Meet Jenelle Jones

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenelle Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenelle, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Have I? I’m not sure that I have. This is also something people who have ADHD deal with. So, it could be a life-long battle I guess.

I know I sometimes do things only because I’m supposed to or because others do. Guess it depends on how necessary it is to blend in. I do try to be authentic to the best of my ability.

I think as we get older and figure out who we are, and that the rest doesn’t matter so much, it fades away. Society is also changing. It’s easier and more acceptable to be a “black sheep.”

It’s important to let people know we accept them how they are, and to meet them where they’re at. Right?

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a travel agent who focuses on ethical and sustainable tourism. It something that’s becoming more vital. It’s important for the planet as a whole and for the environments we want to visit.

We often miss our impact on the communities we visit. Our footprints could cause bad relations, support exploitation, or even damage eco systems. We’re all citizens of Earth, and we should act like it instead of focusing on what’s instagram worthy or is just for our amusement.

I tried launching a hosted group trip, but I think the timing was bad. It’s something I still want to do. I want to create safe places for women and vegans to travel. I identify with (as) both, and so I have insight there.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I feel like adaptability is crucial. Look at our world. Everything changes so quickly, how could one not be?

I’m a quick learner and good at problem solving. I think these go hand-in-hand, and have helped me in so many facets of life. In the business world, they definitely have a place. I’d say they’re even more pivotal for travel.

I care. If I didn’t, I’d just slap things together and have so much less stress. You can tell the difference.
