Meet Ashley Weller

We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Weller recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Honestly, I did not believe that there was anything like imposter syndrome. I had never experienced it until I started taking social media influencing seriously.
When I began influencing, I was forty years old and everyone else was in their twenties. I was nervous…did I belong here? Did I know what I was doing? Am I too old to do this?
All of the events I went to, I was the oldest one there, but the girls were always so surprisingly inclusive and interested in what I was doing. I slowly realized that if I just smiled, held my head up high, stayed authentic to myself and trusted in what I was doing, I could not be an imposter. It is natural for us to compare ourselves to others and to be critical of ourselves, but if we create a uniquely original niche and do not try to be anyone but the person we were created to be, we are ENOUGH.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a Texan at heart but a Beach bum in my soul, so I moved last year from Allen, Texas to Pawleys Island, South Carolina. I am so lucky that it was a smooth transition from the Dallas influencer market to the South Carolina one.

This year I have worked hard to cement my influence here in the Hammock Coast area working with companies in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island and Georgetown.
I have even started a new business called Coastal Concierge and Landscaping with a new friend here in Pawleys Island. We welcome new buyers and renters to the area and reach out to help everyone; whether they need help getting their home, “vacation ready” or getting them in contact with other local business that we partner with. It has been so fun starting this new chapter! Our website is http://coastalcls.com if you would like to reach out or need any help!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, one of the three qualities that has been impactful in my journey was great communication. You have to be able to clearly communicate to many different people and companies about numerous different topics. You also have to be able to communicate through writing smart and creative emails in order to land the best partnerships possible, and be able to talk to your friends and followers and connect with them.
The second quality I had to develop was an authentic view of myself and what I wanted my brand to stand for. You have to have a clear focus and purpose and stay authentic to yourself no matter what. It pays off in the end. Do not try to be anyone but yourself.
Last, was learning time management. I had to learn how to balance my time, family and my different jobs so that none of them suffered. With lots of practice, this didn’t take too long. You have to keep everything into perspective and decide what is most important to you. Family is always first.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! I think everyone has dream partners that they would love to work with! I would love to work with airline companies and different hotels for traveling.
I love adventure and being a part of once in a lifetime type of activities that inspire others.
I would love to partner with Southernliving Magazine or Coastal Living Magazine, those are publications that I have loved for 25 plus years.
I would also love to partner with local non-profits to help out any way I can.
