Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to ISANA SEBASTIAN. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi ISANA, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my self confidence and self-esteem over time. It definitely wasn’t easy, especially growing up and encountering others who tried to tear my confidence down. But, all my struggles from the past have made me the woman I am today. I started by setting realistic goals for myself. I told myself I could do anything I set my mind to. Learned about myself more by figuring out my hobbies and doing work that fulfilled me. I also talked to a counsellor and mental health professionals that pushed and helped me learn the ins and outs of myself and strong ways to build myself up. During this time, I also put more time into my faith and that in itself made me more confident in general. Once I became confident in my faith I was also confident in my walk of life. There wasn’t just one thing that helped shape my confidence and self-esteem but it was multiple things that formed into one big thing.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a freelance esthetician, elementary school teacher and entrepreneur. The most exciting part about my career is giving back to the world whether that’s knowledge or making people look and feel their best. My brand is called IA GLAM and I launched back in early 2020 and I sold various beauty products online, this career choice made the most sense after dropping out of college because I was always someone who wanted to look and feel their best and enhance my beauty. I would always play in makeup at a very young age as well. After a year of being an entrepreneur, I went back to school and became a licensed esthetician and that is when I learned more about the beauty and business world and graduated in the summer of 2021. I have since taken a small break on my business this year to launch my products in local beauty supply stores and focus on educating elementary students. I always ventured out into multiple things but one thing I always wanted to do was to work with kids and be a teacher. I find it to be my most fulfilling job yet. I landed in education due to my experience working with children through side hustles. But, now as I focus on educating children, the future of the world and giving back to them, I will be working in special education in the Fall of 2023 and soon relaunching my business by the end of 2023 with esthetics services. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities that I would focus on to be most impactful are resilience, hard-work, determination. During my journey I was determined to figure out my path and achieve all the goals I set for myself. No matter what struggles I faced I still keep going when I thought it was the end. I was dedicated to making my dreams come true.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
I would spend my last 10 years of my life traveling the world & giving back to charities & the communities in those countries who are in need.
