We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Pittman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Many experiences have contributed to the development of my self-esteem, but I believe the overall process of trial and error has provided the most transformation. I am willing to try even knowing that failure is possible. And sometimes
I do fail. I’m working to release my fear of being perceived, and the progress I’ve made so far has shown that process to be completely worth that risk.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am working to carve a unique path in the world of creative strategy and storytelling, while working to become a rising voice in fashion, culture, and community-focused communications.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the honor of contributing to projects featured by TIME Magazine, Vogue, and NBC. My time as a creative freelancer has taken me on quite the journey. My experiences spans three seasons of New York Fashion Week, supporting interviews with political change-makers for Win With Black Women, and leading logistics for major retreats and campaigns centered on equity and storytelling.
Whether organizing a media blitz for CROSS on Prime Video, planning press briefings, or capturing the spirit of emerging designers at Paris and Milan Fashion Week, my work is rooted in intentionality, inclusion, and impact.
In 2024, K was honored to be invited and attend the first-ever White House Black Excellence Brunch — an experience that reflects my growing influence as a creative change-maker and cultural connector.
Today, I continue to expand my experience in media, including working the red carpet at the NAACP Image Awards, producing press briefings to increase awareness around important health issues such as HIV, all while still pursuing my love for fashion and creative freedom.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Optimism (or delusion, depending on the day), trusting my ability to make decisions, and resilience have gotten me to this far. My advice to anyone looking to embark on the journey to pursue their dreams? Keep going. Even when it feels like you’re not making progress, or if you’re feeling unsure if you’re making the right choice. Keep. Going. That feeling in the pit of your stomach, the one that says I can do this, I need to do this… Listen to that voice, even when it’s just a whisper.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My community keeps me sane. My family, for believing in my dreams. My friends, for encouraging me to keep going even when I’m ready to give up. I deal with depression and anxiety, and my circle has shown incredible grace and patience with me while I navigate the lows of these conditions. Everyone deserves this type of support, and I am forever grateful for their love. My niece and nephew also provide huge motivation. I want to show them what is possible in this world; I want to break down the barriers I faced to make their journey easier to navigate.
