Meet Sharon Macey

We were lucky to catch up with Sharon Macey recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sharon, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Good question! Both are universal struggles, and I know I’m not alone in navigating them through different seasons of life. Confidence isn’t born – it’s built. Mine has been layered over a lifetime, with some layers coming from hard-earned wins and others from falling flat on my face and realizing I could still get back up and try again.

Sure, I’ve had moments when I’ve chased that little jolt of external validation—especially when putting myself out there, building a brand, or sharing my story with people I’ve never met. We all want to feel seen. But the older I get, the more I’ve learned that the applause can’t be the foundation. The applause is what happens when your hard work pays off. The foundation has to be intrinsic…it comes from within: knowing who I am, what I stand for, and trusting my own voice, even when it shakes.

For me, confidence isn’t about being fearless. It’s about moving forward with the fear…and proving to myself, over and over, that yes, I can.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hi everyone! I’m Sharon Macey—mom of three, former award-winning advertising creative, and now the founder and host of Mom to MORE®, a top 2.5% globally ranked podcast and growing community for women ready to rediscover themselves beyond the hands-on years of motherhood.

After nearly two decades as a stay-at-home mom, I found myself at a crossroads. My kids were getting older, and I started asking the question so many moms do: What’s next for me? That quiet question became the spark for Mom to MORE®—a platform that celebrates bold reinvention and shines a light on stories too often overlooked: women transforming their second (or third!) act into something powerful, meaningful and aligned with what energizes them.

I reinvented myself — and realized that if I could do it, any mom could. I returned to my love of dance, discovered Latin ballroom, and began competing, ultimately becoming a national champion in 2022. A year later, I launched the podcast, which continues to be one of the great joys and passions of my life.

On the podcast, I talk with actresses, founders, creatives, and authors who’ve reimagined their lives after raising kids, weathering loss, or shifting careers. We cover everything from starting over at 50 to launching businesses later in life to rediscovering joy after burnout. These aren’t just interviews—they’re real conversations that spark hope, courage, and possibility.

What sets Mom to MORE® apart is that it’s not just content—it’s connection. I know this journey because I’ve lived it. My brand is built on storytelling, authenticity, and the belief that moms aren’t just raising the next generation—we’re also rewriting our own chapters.

Beyond the podcast, I offer 1:1 coaching for women navigating life transitions and speak to organizations about reinvention, identity, and finding purpose at every age.

What I’m most proud of? Hitting “record” for the very first time—because that one risk has led to a kindred community, a top 2.5% global ranking, and messages from women who say, “Your podcast gave me the courage to try.” That’s everything to me.

If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s this: Reinvention has no age limit or expiration date. Whether you’re craving creativity, connection, or clarity, there’s more waiting for you. I’d welcome the chance to help your readers navigate their next chapters. And yes, I’ve even coached men!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Great question! Looking back, I think these three qualities have been the most impactful in my journey:

* Curiosity – I’ve always loved listening to people’s stories, and everyone has one whether they realize it or not. That natural curiosity fuels my interviews and helps me uncover unique experiences worth sharing.

* Compassion – Curiosity opens the door, but compassion builds trust. It helps people feel safe, seen, and comfortable enough to be truly open.

* Resilience – Reinvention isn’t a straight path. Setbacks and pivots happen, and they often become our personal “teachable moments”. Resilience keeps me moving forward even when the next step isn’t clear.

My advice for anyone starting out:

Nurture your curiosity—it turns you into a life-long learner.

Lead with empathy—it’s the fastest way to build real connections.

Align your next chapter with what lights you up – energy builds momentum and momentum is what carries you through the inevitable challenges.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

Right now, my biggest challenge is organization on the back end of Mom To MORE®. The podcast has grown to the point where guest pitches come in frequently-which is amazing, but it also means I need better systems to make sure potential guests truly fit the heart of my mission.

I’m working on creating a guest application form that digs into each guest’s stay-at-home-mom and reinvention story so I can quickly filter out pitches that don’t support this, and focus on the conversations that I know will inspire and resonate with my audience.

I’m also looking for sponsors that are the right fit — brands whose mission, values, and audience align with mine. The right partnerships don’t just support the show; they genuinely serve my listeners…and I’m committed to making every episode a one-stop destination for rich, relevant and inspiring insight and action.
