Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kase of Hillside

We recently had the chance to connect with Kase and have shared our conversation below.

Kase, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Being in the studio, easily. Most times I record myself and I am able to get lost in the music and the process of creation. My songs come from a real place and It always somehow reminds me of how I am. My persona while creating is like me using 100% of myself all for a 3 min song. You have swagger, you have charisma, whit, confidence and connection to the most high all in one. I get in the zone. Creating is a very intimate and humbling experience for me that always grounds me. There was a time It was all i had. I was stuck in my thoughts and music was therapy for me. It’s my safe space for sure.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kase. I am a musical artist, songwriter, entrepreneur. I own a clothing business by the name of Apply Pressure LLC. My music is under Kase Enterprises LLC currently. My music brand and clothing brand are synonymous with each other, it’s all about progression, putting your faith and God and ultimately taking the necessary steps to experience everything you want out of this life. Both brands stand for something which coincides to me as a person.

I do believe it’s hard to be or build anything that isn’t apart of the essence of who you are.
So my entire brand revolves around my story & ultimately being the change you want to see, and of course, applying pressure.

Recently I have been working on my new project. Which will release soon while also building up my new YouTube series titled “Conversations With Kase”, where I interview people I deem to be amazing people outside of their profession, but I tie It in with how since a child the signs of who they would become in the future was there. I truly enjoy intellectual conversations about God, faith, love, trauma and everything that comes with life itself.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would have to say my mother. She always told me I was great and tried to put me in position to be the best I could be, even if the only thing she could provide was wisdom. I always hear her voice in the back of my head and it’s one of my main reasons why i push through.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Of course. I feel like we all have those moments, but personally, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if i didn’t see things through. I believe that along the journey you’re supposed to feel that, how else would you know what you’re made of?

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
A huge part of the fabric of life is energy, feeling and instinct. When you think too much intellectually, those things can slip by you. I have been one to overanalyze and ruminate and explain the numbers, just to forget that there are things in life that are unexplainable. That’s why life is life. Everything cannot be predicted or calculated. Some things just happen, and that’s okay.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am disciplined in my routines, my workouts, recording, business meetings and calls or doing absolutely nothing. I believe rest is a huge part of the creation and work process.
