Amanda Sweeney-Jones on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amanda Sweeney-Jones. Check out our conversation below.

Amanda, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, gardening brings me so much joy. I love getting my hands in the soil, watching my veggies grow, and seeing the beauty of nature come to life- it always grounds me and fills me with peace.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Amanda Sweeney Jones. I wear a few hats—I’m a realtor, interior designer, and content creator with a passion for both homes and gardens. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work on incredible projects, from Extreme Home Makeover to Alan Jackson’s home, and I’ve been honored as one of Nashville’s top 10 interior designers. My brand is all about blending creativity, design, and storytelling—whether that’s helping someone find their dream home, transforming a space, or inspiring people through my gardening and lifestyle content.

What makes my journey unique is that I started out fueled by a big “why”—after HGTV reached out years ago, I dove in headfirst to chase opportunities and create a career I truly love. Today, I’m focused on expanding my real estate business in Murfreesboro, TN, while also building partnerships with brands like Bonnie Plants and Miracle-Gro to share tips, inspiration, and real stories with my audience.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I hit a point in my life where everything I thought was secure suddenly shifted. I realized that nothing is promised, and if I wanted a life that felt meaningful, I had to create it for myself. Instead of letting fear hold me back, I chose to lean into faith, resilience, and determination.

That season taught me that setbacks can actually be redirections and that strength often shows up when you have no choice but to keep moving forward. It changed the way I look at people, too- I have a deeper empathy now, because you never know what someone else has had to fight through just to stand where they are.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
When I was sad or scared as a child, what helped me most was being outside. I always found comfort in nature, digging in the dirt, planting something, or just sitting in the yard with the breeze around me. It gave me a sense of calm and reminded me that the world was bigger than whatever I was worried about in the moment.

I also leaned a lot on creativity, drawing, rearranging my room, or just imagining new worlds in my head. Looking back, those same things-nature and creativity- still ground me today and are a huge part of who I am and the work I do.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I believe my closest friends would say what really matters to me is connection, creativity, and making a difference. They’d tell you I care deeply about the people in my life and that I always try to show up with encouragement and honesty. They’d also probably mention how much I value creating—whether that’s building a home, designing a space, growing a garden, or creating content—it’s my way of expressing love and bringing joy to others.

More than anything, they know I want to live a life that feels purposeful, not just successful. Relationships, faith, and leaving a positive mark on the people around me—that’s what they’d say really matters to me.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I showed up fully, with authenticity, kindness, creativity, and courage. That I chased my dreams fearlessly but never at the expense of others, and that I inspired people to see the beauty and potential in their own lives-whether that was through helping them find a home, transform a space, or simply share a piece of joy in everyday life.

I’d love for people to remember me as someone who loved deeply, worked hard, and encouraged others to do the same, leaving a trail of positivity, inspiration, and wonder behind.
