Angela Hermida of San Diego on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Angela Hermida. Check out our conversation below.

Angela, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
For me, it’s traveling to a new country. Getting lost in unfamiliar streets, trying new foods, and soaking in a culture I’ve never experienced before makes me completely lose track of time and somehow feel more like myself than ever.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Angela, a travel content creator passionate about discovering unique experiences around the world and sharing them in a way that feels both inspiring and practical. My goal is to show the hidden gems, give honest tips, and make travel feel more approachable, whether it’s through detailed itineraries, money-saving hacks, or showcasing those bucket-list spots. Right now, I’m focusing on curating guides that help travelers not just visit a place, but truly experience it.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was traveling to a new country on my own for the first time. Navigating airports, figuring out public transport, and realizing I could rely on myself gave me so much confidence. It showed me that I was capable of handling the unknown and that’s a feeling I’ve carried with me on every trip since.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self not to be afraid of the unknown, some of the best experiences come from stepping outside your comfort zone. Traveling will show you that the world is kinder and more beautiful than you ever imagined, so trust yourself and go.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Respect. Especially when traveling, I think it’s so important to honor local traditions, customs, and ways of life. It not only shows appreciation for the culture but also creates more meaningful and genuine connections with the people you meet.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Not taking the leap to explore a new destination when I had the chance. Trips can be postponed, but time and experiences can’t be replaced, so I know I’d regret not going when the opportunity was there.
