Story & Lesson Highlights with Bianca Bee of NYC

Bianca Bee shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Bianca, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Yes, I would absolutely hire me. I call myself the Olivia Pope of what I do because I always get the job done, “no excuses,” no loose ends and I’m honest and direct with what I can do. I have a strong work ethic, I’m reliable, and I take pride in being on time, most of the time even early. You can tell me something once, or teach me something once, and I’ll catch on quickly.

I may be quiet, but I believe that my quietness has power, it allows me to observe, process, and deliver results without unnecessary noise. I’m focused, I execute, and I make people’s jobs easier. That’s why I’d hire me every time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Bianca Bee, author, talent booker and entrepreneur. I’ve spent over a decade working with high-profile talent across television, live events, and digital media. Helping entrepreneurs, celebrities, and experts share their stories on major networks. That experience inspired me to create resources that empower women, especially Millennial and Gen Z women of color, to build confidence, monetize their talents, and step into the spotlight.

What makes my journey unique is that I’ve sat on both sides of the industry: behind the scenes producing and in front as a creator. My brand is really about bridging those two worlds to show others that with preparation, confidence, and strategy, you can create the career you imagine.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my author brand, relaunching resources for creators, and continuing to build a community of women who want to own their voice and their value.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was losing my jobs when three different talk shows I worked on were cancelled. I had moved across the country multiple times between LA and New York for those opportunities, and each time I had to start over. What I realized in those seasons was that people often only rock with you when you have something going on, not when you’re rebuilding or in between.

Instead of breaking me, it made me hustle even harder. I learned how to bet on myself, pivot, say no to opportunities that didn’t align, and truly know my worth—not just in how I carried myself, but in the salary I asked for and the boundaries I set. Those experiences taught me resilience and reminded me that every setback is really a setup for reinvention. And at the end of the day, it’s just business.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there were definitely moments I almost gave up. After losing my jobs when talk shows I worked on got cancelled and having to move across the country multiple times, I remember thinking, “Maybe this isn’t for me.” It was exhausting to constantly start over. But every time I got to that point, something inside of me reminded me why I started—my passion for media, storytelling, and building something bigger than myself.

Instead of quitting, I used those moments as fuel. I shifted my mindset, tightened my hustle, and started creating my own opportunities instead of waiting for them to come to me. Those “almost gave up” seasons ended up being the times that built my resilience the most.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project I’m committed to, no matter how long it takes, is “The Bianca Bee Brand” and my books. Being an author is something I’ll always stand on because my words and experiences live beyond me. They have the power to inspire, teach, and connect with people I may never even meet.

I also have that same commitment to The Bianca Bee Show. That platform is personal to me because I started it in high school and expanded it in college. It’s where I get to merge my love for media and highlighting voices that deserve to be heard. No matter how much time passes or how the industry changes, those two things, my books and my show will always be part of my legacy.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think what people might most misunderstand about my legacy is that it was “easy” or that opportunities just came to me. What they won’t see are the cancelled shows I worked on, the cross-country moves, the times I had to start from scratch, and the seasons where I had to rebuild when no one was checking for me.

My legacy isn’t about luck, it’s about resilience, consistency, and betting on myself when it would’ve been easier to give up. People may see the highlight reel, but what I want them to understand is that my journey was built on sacrifice, hustle, and an unshakable belief in my purpose.
