An Inspired Chat with William Perry

William Perry shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

William, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Over the last couple of years, I’ve found myself in more of a leadership role within the producer community compared to our last interview. Since we last spoke, I have been named a brand ambassador for both Repost Exchange and BeatStars. I also am an affiliate producer for Melodics.

As reserved as I can be, I never would have imagined I would stumble across multiple opportunities to represent the same brands that became part of my daily regiment – yet alone capitalize on those opportunities. That is such a tremendous milestone for me; especially considering I am completely independent.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is William, but you can call me Will.
I am a trifecta of an artist, producer and engineer.
But who isn’t in 2025, right?

I have been creating music for well over a dozen years.
What differentiates me from my contemporaries is that I am Pro Tool certified and hold multiple Waves certifications as well.
I have also produced music used by the WNBA and NBA.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My father was the textbook role model for my childhood.
Early on in life, I had already developed a sense of discipline being that I was a military brat.
The multiple deployments were tough but, now that I’m an adult, I realize how much sacrifice was made in regard to my dad; and I heard no complaints.

All these various factors played a part in my overall development and taught me how to navigate life as an adult.
Many of the characteristics that define my temperament come right from him.
Dedicated. Hard-working. Repetitious. But never complacent nearly enough to become stagnant in life.
All that is genetic. I am a junior, after all.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
To be honest, the lack of confidence in myself early on.
I might have been humble to a fault looking at things in hindsight.
“Closed mouths don’t get fed” – and I fully comprehend the meaning now.

Rest in peace to the opportunities we missed because we didn’t have the confidence…
But things are different now!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Manifestation is really real!

The life I am currently living is what I was aiming for a few years ago before I relocated to Texas from North Carolina.
I gave myself 3 years to make a play – and I did just that.
Moving around and networking during concerts, tours and festivals led to me meeting notable producers and artists that are already established in the music industry. At this point, I have one foot in and one foot out; but I’m striving to become a full-time musician and make a living from my passion.

Opportunity wasn’t available in my hometown, so I had to go where the action was.
Although the aesthetic may be a bit different than what I envisioned, most of my goals have been checked off.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What light inside you have you been dimming?
My songwriting and penmanship.

I am most known for my music production, but I was writing lyrics before I ever was introduced to what was then called “Fruity Loops”. I used to perform spoken word poetry and that led to me writing full songs.
I have had multiple works published in literary journals and that planted a seed in the back of my mind with the idea of publishing my own book featuring the best unreleased lyrics I’ve composed over the years.

On the other hand, for years I’ve had the idea of releasing my beats with hooks already recorded on them.
I haven’t paired with an artist yet for that task, so lately I’ve been considering doing it myself.
That would showcase my songwriting, production and engineering – all in the same upload.
