We recently had the chance to connect with Domo Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Domo, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What battle are you avoiding?
I definitely battle with being celebrating my victories. Sometimes I don’t feel like what I’ve accomplished was good and I’m so eager to start working on the next project instead of dwelling in the moment of what I just accomplished.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dōmo and I have a disability that lead me to use a walker and leg braces to help with balance. After dealing with two brain surgeries, six years of chemotherapy and five weeks of radiation, I wanted to target the disabled community in using my personal journey to show them THEY CAN BREAK THE STIGMA BEYOND OUR CONDITIONS! I I became a Master Certified Disability Confidence Coach, 6x Self-Published Author, have three businesses, and in Aug, 2021, I became the host of the very first disability talk show hosted by someone with a disability called “One Billion Brave”! My recent business “KnuYou Services” stemmed from all the groundwork I learned from my businesses now helping new small businesses with the custom basics of promoting their brands abroad. I also started an Apparel line called “The Salve Society” to represent the Disabled Community with boldness. My goal is to remind people to never count us out because you’ll be surprised how much I’m missing out! Once I realized my purpose, no hindrance could stop me until it manifests! You can’t tell me it can’t be done because I’m ACTUALLY doing it!!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I definitely have to say my mom. She saw the creative and the determining side of me that I didn’t value as something, and once she not only brought that to my attention, but showed me how to embrace it, that was all I needed.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Definitely! There are so many times that I want to give up. Just based on my life living with a disability and sometimes not really knowing if my body is going to function the day or if I have to sit this one out, it makes you wanna give up because you never know And you have no control, but my passion is what drives me to keep it pushing
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would have to say the words I love you. I see it a lot, probably a little bit too much sometimes lol I know my friends make it annoyed. They know that I really mean it. Value Luv and the people around me so I never want them to feel like I don’t appreciate them. I’m definitely the mushy friend lol
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Domo Jones lived her life as proof that limits are a lie.”
She was the woman who didn’t just talk about confidence — she embodied it. When life handed her a walker at 28, she didn’t fade into the background; she turned it into a runway and dared the world to watch her shine. She used her voice, her humor, and her style to challenge every stereotype about disability, showing others that pride isn’t something you earn — it’s something you decide.
Through her brand, The SALVE Society, her books, her podcast, and every stage she stood on, Domo made sure people with disabilities felt seen, heard, and celebrated. She wasn’t here to inspire pity — she was here to ignite power.
Her legacy isn’t just in the clothes she designed or the words she spoke — it’s in every person she helped stand taller, laugh louder, and believe in themselves without apology. Domo didn’t just live; she made confidence contagious. And because of her, the world will never look at disability the same way again.
