Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raymond Jarrett III. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Raymond , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my many experiences in the past that Ive overcome. Ive also had many great examples of people who I’ve looked up too in my life that embodied this trait.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My professional career started on the basketball court in Dubai, Hong Kong, and Australia. From 2014-2021 I traveled the world playing professional basketball and growing my Videography freelance business . While in Australia I Founded CHP education; An organization built to teach Aboriginal youth about Photography and Videography. Upon returning to the United states, I assumed the role as Editor/Videographer at MMGY Global where I am currently employed. I am currently interested in AR/VR applications and developing user experiences in XR/ Metaverse to enhance brand interaction.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Hard work, delusional confidence, Self awareness and openness to new experiences. Ive found that when Ive embarked on new endeavors; selective ignorance is bliss. On your learning curve starting out your bound to come across many rude awakenings on how little you may actually know. Why spoil the fun up front with this information? Ive found that if I concentrate on my excitement around learning and doing; it will carry me through the growing pains as they come. As a cerebral person, Its important for me to prioritize action rather than over analysis.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Im currently interested in partnering with any XR and UX professionals to help in developing an Augmented Reality based mobile app Ive concepted.
