We were lucky to catch up with Maria Mihaylova recently and have shared our conversation below.
Maria, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My parents were my first teachers. Their work ethics were impecable. I have tried to apply that passion, responsibility, and accountability they had, in my profession. I also give credit to each and every one of my co-workers and managers for teaching me by example either to match their work ethics, or completely avoid them.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At the Acne Clinic the most important job I have is convince people of how beautiful they already are. Acne has a very negative effect on people’s self esteem, and it is my passion to help them improve that. I treat acne without the harmful effects of harsh chemicals. I focus on the root of the problem, as well as the symptoms. And at the end of the acne programs, I see smiling faces, which is my absolute drive to continue with my mission. One acne free face at the time.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I am passionate about my profession. I truly believe in the endless benefits of it. That is why I never stop expanding my knowledge and perfecting my skills. These two go together.
I am completely honest with my clients. I believe it to be unethical to promise unrealistic outcomes.
If you are starting in your journey, my advice would be to study. Take as many classes as you can, get certified in different skills, practice what you learned. Repeat.
Listen to your clients, they will teach you more than you can imagine.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
In my field, treating acne, nutrition plays an important role, as well as exercising. i constantly refer clients to other professionals who can properly help them with that. And I get many clients who were suggested to contact me for their skin care.
If you are in any of these fields, I would be happy to connect with you.
