Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Mossiah Jones of Broadriver District

We recently had the chance to connect with Mossiah Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Mossiah, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I’m in the Music and Entertainment business and if people don’t see you on Forbes magazine then they feel like you don’t have a real job lol. Unfortunately Arts and Entertainment is not highly regarded in my region but nonetheless we are on the cusp of dynamic energy shift which will soon spotlight artists, creatives and professionals in our industry.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mossiah Jones and I am the CEO and Founder of V12 Worldwide which is a Music & Entertainment Lifestyle Branding Company, we own a few subsidiary companies and businesses to include V12 Studios our audio recording business, V12 Da Label which creates, distributes and market music for commercial consumption, V12 LifeStyle Clothing Company a printing and merchandising company, V12 Multimedia our visual production, graphics and photography business and lastly our own food product called “SoundBites” a bite-sized gourmet meat pie.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think expectations that are not stated and understood can break a bond. What I mean by this is that most people expect others to see things as they see it and therefore expect the same or similar outlooks on situations. I had to learn the hard way that things I appreciate might not be appreciated by others, so I concluded that I needed to make certain things clarified in order to avoid misunderstandings that could lead to ending relationships.

I would say gaining proper understanding can restore old bonds

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that I nor anyone is exempt from going through things and that in this period you have to learn from it in order to alleviate the pain. I was talking to a friend and shared that I had a wild theory and that was that I am more motivated from “hate” than I am from “love”, for one I know the “hate” is real but I cant be certain the “love” is always real.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would have to say “No” because the public version of me makes no mistakes, always says the right things, a nice guy and a somewhat local celebrity figure but in reality I make lots of mistakes, sometimes say the wrong things and don’t want to be bothered with others.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I can truly say I was born to do what I am doing, it feels so good and natural, sometimes I feel like I’m cheating the game, I get up when I want and work in a beautiful environment with creative people and get paid to see my ideas come to life, sometimes I have to pinch myself and make sure this is real.
