We’re looking forward to introducing you to QUEEN ANGELA THOMAS-SMITH. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning QUEEN ANGELA, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A Day in My Life: Living on Purpose
My days begin bright and early, with a 5AM prayer call that has become my spiritual anchor for more than five years. These early morning moments set the tone for my day, allowing me to connect with God, intercede for others, and lead a community of prayer warriors seeking strength and inspiration before the sun rises.
At 8AM, I dive into a daily devotion—sometimes leading, other times participating, but always absorbing fresh wisdom from God’s Word. This sacred time grounds me, reminding me of my calling and helping me approach the day with gratitude, clarity, and hope.
After devotion, I dedicate time to sharing positive, uplifting content across all my social media channels. Whether it’s encouraging quotes, faith-filled thoughts, or practical life tips, my goal is to fill timelines with light, inspiration, and encouragement for my virtual community.
Mid-morning and into the afternoon, I focus on my academic journey—working toward my Master’s degree in Public Administration. This includes attending virtual lectures, diving into readings, prepping assignments, and collaborating with classmates. Balancing rigorous coursework with my other responsibilities requires discipline and determination, but I am passionate about growing my knowledge to better serve my community.
As evening approaches, my schedule shifts toward media and ministry. From 7PM to 9PM, I’m in producer mode, helping nine amazing podcast hosts deliver their unique programs. I manage logistics, provide tech support, and ensure each episode airs smoothly Sunday through Friday—building a platform that highlights diverse voices and powerful stories.
My day doesn’t end there! At 9:30PM, I actively support the WBNN Network as a host—contributing to broadcast discussions, amplifying others’ stories, and building community on a global scale. Whether I’m behind the mic or engaging listeners in real time, I pour my passion for authentic connection into every moment.
My “normal” day may be full, but each part is infused with faith, purpose, and service—balancing prayer, learning, leadership, and media to make a positive impact wherever I am called.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, readers! I’m Angela Thomas Smith—author of over 150 books, podcast host and owner, publishing coach, magazine editor, student, and more. As someone passionate about words and transformation, I strive every day to be the change I want to see in the world.
Through my platform, I help aspiring writers become published authors, offer encouragement through my podcasts, and empower others by sharing positive content across media channels. I believe everyone’s story matters, and I’m dedicated to helping voices shine—whether on the page, over the airwaves, or in the community.
Right now, I’m working on new book projects, supporting other creators, and continuing my own education, because growth never stops. What makes my journey unique is my commitment to service, authenticity, and elevating others as together we create lasting impact.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that profoundly shaped how I see the world was surviving domestic violence—specifically, being shot at point-blank range with a sawed-off shotgun. That traumatic experience nearly cost me my life, but it also opened my eyes to the strength within me and the importance of using my voice for change.
Surviving something so life-altering taught me deep compassion for others facing hardship, and fueled a passion to advocate for those who feel voiceless or powerless. It reminded me that every day is a gift, and it’s my mission to make my life count by spreading hope, encouraging resilience, and being a light in the lives of others.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly, there are days when the weight of it all feels overwhelming—sometimes it’s every other day. But what keeps me moving forward is understanding that my journey is so much bigger than just me. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds me that God’s plans are real and filled with hope and purpose. I know the God I serve is so much greater than anything I could ever face.
There are people counting on me to succeed, so they’ll know that they, too, can overcome and achieve their dreams. Some of the lives I’m meant to impact I haven’t even met yet—some haven’t even been born. Remembering this bigger picture inspires me to keep going, no matter how tough things get.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the literary and publishing industry tells itself is that there’s only one “right” way to become a successful author, and that gatekeepers—big publishers, agents, or traditional outlets—are the only valid path to legitimacy or impact. The truth is, every story and journey is unique, and many amazing writers find their audience through independent, hybrid, or self-publishing.
Another lie is that your story has to fit a certain trend or style to matter. In reality, authenticity and diverse voices are more important now than ever—readers crave truth, vulnerability, and real connections over formulas or fads.
Lastly, there’s often the misconception that you have to have a massive following or already be famous to have your work valued. But every writer starts somewhere, and community is built, not bought. With passion, perseverance, and genuine engagement, every voice can find its place and make a difference.
As someone who coaches and collaborates with aspiring authors, I’ve witnessed firsthand how breaking these myths unlocks true potential and creativity. Everyone’s story matters—and there is room for all our voices.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, my roles, and all my possessions, what would remain is my faith, my character, and the love I’ve given and received. At the core, what lasts are the lives I’ve touched, the legacy of kindness and resilience I’ve sown, and the purpose God placed in my heart. Without titles or material things, it’s the strength I’ve found through adversity, my commitment to lift others, and the hope I share that truly define me. Who I am—my spirit, integrity, and unwavering belief in something greater—remains, long after everything else fades away.
