Story & Lesson Highlights with Isabela Quilodrán of Los Angeles

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Isabela Quilodrán. Check out our conversation below.

Isabela, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes! Every time I post about any accomplishment, no matter how big or small, I ALWAYS have people from Brazil, and even here, commenting on how proud and happy they are that I keep pushing toward my goal. It makes my heart feel so warm and full of joy, and I’m proud of myself for knowing that even when it’s lonely, even when it feels impossible, there are still people rooting for me. That makes everything worthwhile.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Isabela Quilodrán. I’m a Brazilian-Chilean actress, writer, and producer based in Los Angeles. I was born in Rio de Janeiro to a Brazilian father and Chilean mother, and I carry both cultures proudly in everything I do. I trained at the Stella Adler Art of Acting Conservatory and have worked across theater, television, and independent film, both in Brazil and the U.S.

What makes my journey unique is how I blend classical training with a deep love for bold, emotional storytelling, often centered on identity, memory, and the fine line between reality and imagination. I’m passionate about telling stories that challenge perspectives and stay with you long after the credits roll.

Right now, I’m working on romance short film that begins as a quiet end of the world and slowly morphs into something else. I’m also rehearsing a play and celebrating the festival run of Audition, a short I starred in and helped produce, as well as Feast, a supernatural horror piece.

As a Latina artist, I’m deeply committed to creating space for diverse narratives and voices. I believe our stories matter and I’m here to tell them with honesty, intensity, and heart.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I feel like the younger me was so desperate to be included. I was always around people, and for a long time, being alone scared me. But as you grow older, you start to understand that being alone, doing things alone, is part of the process. I can finally say that I’ve released the part of me that always felt the need to be present for others. I see now that I need to be present for myself first. I guess this is just part of growing up.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
How to stay grounded.
It’s easy to forget where you came from when everyone is telling you how amazing and perfect you are. I never really liked that. I always wanted to know the mistakes, the flaws, because that’s what pushes me to grow.
I’ve always had a hard time accepting compliments, but maybe that’s what’s helped me stay grounded. Because the truth is, you never know what tomorrow holds, and you can’t let yourself forget to be kind.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That no one will consume other cultures.
That’s simply not true. There are so many incredible examples of actors who aren’t American, who don’t speak perfect English, and yet, they made it!
It will be hard. Everything that’s truly worthwhile in life is hard, because the journey shapes you. It makes you stronger.
But it is possible. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they remember me for being kind and thoughtful. I want to help others. I want to have the capacity to make a difference, to change lives. And I hope that those whose lives were changed can go on to change even more.
