We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sarah Grondin. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I get up at 5:45 every morning to get some movement in before work. It usually is strength training or a run. It truly sets the tone for the day and my mental and physical health thanks me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sarah Grondin and I am the owner and master esthetician of Jang Skincare. I opened up my own studio in January of 2024. I have been an esthetician for 23 years and was at a point that I needed to hire employees to take on my waiting list of clients. What a beautiful problem to have.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents. We didn’t have alot of money growing up so I started working at 12 years old. My parents instilled a very strong work ethic. If we wanted something we had to work to get it. Nothing was handed to us.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I almost threw in the towel with doing facials 5 years in to my career. This profession is hard work and can be discouraging when you are trying to build a clientele. I was broke and wondering if I should find another job that was consistent and financially stable. I think that’s why alot of facialists don’t make it… they don’t want to ride out the highs and lows. I’m so happy that I didn’t give up.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Gratitude. And acknowledging your gratitude. I will always say thank you, be grateful for kindness and generosity and reciprocate it back. Most humans skim over kind gestures and take alot for granted.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My facials! I’ve had alot of the same clients for my 23 year career. I love all my newer clients but my loyal and long time clients have literally given me my beautiful job and have supported and loved me through all the ups and downs.
