Story & Lesson Highlights with Kimberly Parker of Dallas, Texas

We recently had the chance to connect with Kimberly Parker and have shared our conversation below.

Kimberly, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Absolutely…winning the Start. Pivot. Grow. Pitch it competition at the end of June was definitely a proud moment! I still can’t believe I won $20,000! I’ve poured so much heart into building a business that not only serves but disrupts harmful systems in mental health care, and to have that vision recognized meant everything. It reminded me that the work I’m doing matters and that I don’t have to water it down to be seen.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Kimberly Parker, MS, LPC-S, LCDC, EMDR-trained therapist, educator, consultant, and the founder of Revive to Thrive Wellness Center. At my core, I help people and systems heal. I support BIPOC individuals through therapy, train clinicians and medical professionals to practice with cultural humility, and consult with healthcare organizations on how to deliver more affirming care.

What makes my work unique is that it’s deeply rooted in both lived experience and professional expertise. I don’t just teach cultural humility…I embody it. I believe healing should be liberatory, not performative and I’m here to help folks thrive with intention, care, and truth.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom saw me clearly long before I could fully see myself. For her, education and living up to my fullest potential wasn’t optional…it was a given. Even when I was engaging in what I now know was developmentally appropriate slacking off, she never let me stay there. She challenged me, held me accountable, and constantly spoke life into me. She reminded me that I was brilliant, capable, and built for more. Her belief in me anchored me during seasons when I didn’t fully believe in myself. Looking back, I can see how her vision helped shape the one I now carry for myself and for others.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: You can do anything you set your mind to. You don’t have to seek everyone’s approval…God’s approval and serving people with love and integrity is all that truly matters. And even that isn’t just an obligation…it’s your purpose. It’s your gift. Keep walking in that, even when it feels hard or lonely. You’re more powerful, more worthy, and more called than you know.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what matters most to me is living with purpose, staying grounded in my faith, and being of service to others, especially those who are often overlooked or underestimated. They’d say I care deeply about creating space for healing, justice, and truth-telling, whether in therapy, training, or everyday conversation. I’m that friend who reminds people of their worth, challenges them to walk in alignment, and holds space for their hard things. I value authenticity over performance, impact over applause, and community over competition. They would probably also bring up that I can be tearful, as I love big and wide… and it shows.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my clients and customers would miss how I made them feel…seen, heard, and never judged. They’d miss the way I held space for their most painful truths without flinching, how I helped them believe in their worth again, even when life made them forget. Many of them came to me in their darkest hours…carrying trauma, shame, or the weight of generational pain and I didn’t offer quick fixes or textbook answers. I offered my presence, my intuition, and a fierce commitment to walking with them through the fire until they could walk on their own.

Whether through therapy, supervision, or training, I created spaces where people felt safe enough to break open, rebuild, and begin again. That’s what they’d miss most…not just the work, but the relationship. The feeling that no matter how heavy life got, they didn’t have to carry it alone.
