Story & Lesson Highlights with Camila Battiato

We recently had the chance to connect with Camila Battiato and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Camila, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ince breaker: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely, I would hire me! I bring a strong blend of creativity, technical skills, and a true passion for interior design. I care deeply about every project I take on, and I’m always thinking about how to create a space that feels personal, functional, and beautiful. I thrive in collaborative environments, and I’m constantly pushing myself to grow, whether that’s exploring new materials, learning new tools, or staying inspired by trends while staying true to my client’s style. I’d hire me because I show up with intention, warmth, and a genuine love for what I do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Camila Battiato, an interior designer with a deep love for creating spaces that feel warm, intentional, and truly lived-in. My style is transitional with a twist, I love blending modern, cottage, and rustic pieces to create designs that feel both fresh and timeless. I believe that good design isn’t just about how a space looks, but how it feels to live in it. Every project is an opportunity to tell a story, and I always aim to make that story personal to each client. Right now, I’m working on a few exciting residential spaces and continuing to share design inspiration and tips through my Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. My process is rooted in connection, creativity, and a genuine passion for making homes that feel like home.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband. He saw my potential long before I truly believed in it myself. From the very beginning, he’s been my biggest supporter, always encouraging me to grow professionally and never doubting my eye for design or my ability to succeed in this field. He helps me in so many ways, including behind the scenes of my YouTube channel, where I’m currently creating a free interior design course (with more design tips and fun content to come!). He always understood how much I love what I do and why I dedicate so much of myself to it. That mutual understanding and support means everything, and it has made a huge difference in my journey.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, but not in my work with clients, that part has always felt fulfilling. It was actually with social media. It can be really draining to put so much effort, time, and creativity into something and see little return in terms of views or clicks. At one point, I seriously considered stepping away from it. I even took a full week off just to disconnect. But after hitting those low moments, I realized that showing up consistently online is also part of my professional growth. I love creating content, sharing tips, and connecting with people, so now I’m approaching it with a calmer mindset, doing it because I enjoy it, not just for the numbers. If something doesn’t perform, that’s okay, there’s always next time. I truly believe that persistence always leads to success.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I think so, yes. I always try to be transparent in everything I do. I work with clients in the U.S., and even though English isn’t my first language and I have an accent, I’ve never tried to hide that. It’s part of who I am. I’m not someone who shares every moment of my day like an influencer; instead, I focus on sharing my work and staying as professional as possible. What you see online is really me, my design style, my voice, and my passion for what I do. I want people to connect with that honesty and know there’s a real person behind every project I share.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Honestly? Probably not starting sooner! Sometimes I think about how far I could’ve come if I had trusted myself earlier or put myself out there a bit more from the beginning. But at the same time, I believe everything happens at the right moment. Every step, even the slower ones, helped shape the designer I am today. So while I might regret not starting earlier, I’m just grateful I did start, and I’m excited for everything that’s still ahead.
