In a culture that often celebrates hustle and noise, peace can feel rare. Yet, peace is the ultimate prize for so many of us and so we asked folks to reflect on when they feel most at peace.

Having fun. I think the belief system which I was raised in looked down upon “fun” as something hedonistic and preferred to encourage, at times, unjustified altruism. You weren’t allowed to enjoy certain things, watch certain movies, listen to entire genres of music, hang out with specific groups of people, or enjoy yourself too much as it somehow was immoral or translated to a gross self-indulgence. I was impacted by that ideology for too long and it really sucked the “fun” out of many different experiences, phases of life, coming of ages, rites of passage, culture, art, friends, et cetera. I’m chasing a vision, I’m chasing a legacy to leave for my children. I’m chasing greatness. This past weekend, on August 16 I competed in Houston Texas for the world championship and was victorious making myself a two time world champion, but there’s still much more that needs to be done. I’m chasing negative opinions, I’m chasing doubt, while chasing my dreams. I have people that depend on me so I can’t stop. Read More>>

I normally wake up around 6am or so and move right into a mediation practice for about thirty minutes. I’ve found that if I practice before checking on my phone- then my whole day flows with greater ease and joy. After that I try to get in the water and surf for a couple hours depending on the season! In the work I do, Integrity is always the most important. In my opinion, integrity aligns itself with intelligence and energy. It requires moral honesty and compassion that makes a difference with every person or family I work with. Their stories require time, attention, understanding, and conducting my work with integrity and working with others who have it also, is the only way to do a story justice. Read More>>

Music. I spend a lot of time getting lost in hip hop, R&B, soul, and blues to name a few. My portrait work might not be directly inspired by music, but it inspires me as an artist to keep creating. Read More>>

I have to say that re -watching “Stranger Things,” is a real pleasure and makes me laugh…dark humor for sure. It’s a treat to work all day and in the evening and then late at night watch a streaming show. This is a recent thing for all of us. Years back we didn’t have the technology, or availability. Being that I make short films as well as paint, it’s a pleasure to see such things. Sometimes it helps my sleep and sometimes not. Read More>>

Well, I just got a new pup. His name is Theodore “Teddy” Wells. He rules my life right now, so my first 90 minutes and all of my minutes are dedicated to him. He wakes me up extremely early because he is hungry and thirsty. If it’s not him waking me up then it’s somebody in the kitchen waking me up because I live with morning people. Im not a morning person at all so when I first wake up I’m like the grinch but after those 90 minutes you can basically call me St. Nicholas. Read More>>

Lately, what’s bringing me the most joy is spending time at our new home, which sits along a beautiful creek. My husband and I love watching the birds, the occasional deer, and just soaking in the peacefulness of the trees and greenery around us. This summer, we added two raised garden beds, and it’s been so rewarding to plant, nurture, and watch things grow. Read More>>

Right now, my days are quite structured but always full of creative energy. I usually start the morning with meditation — it helps me set the tone and stay centered throughout the day. After that, I dive into my work, whether that means answering emails, planning content, or managing collaborations. Then I shift into filming mode, which is one of my favorite parts of the day — it’s where I get to express myself and connect with my audience. Read More>>

A little more than 10 years ago, I watched an acceptance speech of an award ceremony from a famous actor whose films I quite enjoy. In his speech he spoke of how he chased himself in 10 years and the mountains that moved for him in his life. Since then, I’ve done just that, I’ve kept chasing myself in 10 years. I make decisions with a that kind of a timeline in mind. That framework changes the way I make decisions, allowing me to be more present while these decisions bloom for longevity, for continuance, and future proofing my life and business. Read More>>

Having two of my black and white photographs selected for the group exhibition at Blank Wall Gallery in Athens was a truly proud moment. Shortly after, being included in another group show in Barcelona felt like a meaningful acknowledgment of my work.
