An Inspired Chat with sara sniderman of metro west

sara sniderman shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning sara, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first thing I do when I get up is take our dog for a walk. It’s a little pocket of quiet before the busy school morning begins. After that, it’s all about getting the kids up, fed, and out the door. We walk to the bus together, which is one of my favorite little rhythms of our mornings.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Sara! I’m a lifestyle newborn, maternity, and family photographer based in Natick, Massachusetts. Before photography, I worked as a behavior analyst with children with special needs, but after having my own three daughters I found myself drawn to documenting the everyday, fleeting moments of family life. That passion eventually grew into the business I have today.

What makes my work unique is the focus on connection and authenticity. I aim to capture the natural moments—siblings playing, parents snuggling their newborn, or the little in-between expressions that truly tell a family’s story. I want families to look back on their photos years from now and remember not just how they looked, but how that season of life felt.

Right now, I’m especially excited about helping families embrace the beauty of outdoor sessions this fall and cozy at-home newborn sessions this winter. I love weaving together the environment, the relationships, and all those small details into images that feel timeless.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was when I used to horseback ride as a child. I remember being this small kid on top of such a big, strong animal and the mix of awe and excitement it brought. Some of my favorite moments were riding bareback through the trails—feeling the rhythm of the horse, the fresh air, and the freedom of being out in nature. I’m not sure if it was exactly “power” in the traditional sense, but it was definitely a powerful feeling to be so connected to something bigger than myself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be to be gentle with yourself and to believe in your own abilities. If someone had told me back then that I would one day run my own photography business, I never would have believed it. Starting my business was a leap of faith, and I’m so grateful I trusted myself enough to take it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that what really matters to me is my family. My girls and my husband always come first, even before work. In friendship, they’d probably say I value being able to wholeheartedly trust the people in my life and that I love laughing together until my stomach hurts.

In my business, what matters most is connection. I truly love when clients feel more like friends. It’s not just about documenting a family’s connection with each other—it’s also about the connection I get to build with them along the way.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
hope people will remember how deeply I loved my family. At the end of the day, that’s what matters most to me—that my girls and my husband always knew how much they meant to me, and that love is what people carry forward when they think of me.
