Jenn Miranda’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jenn Miranda. Check out our conversation below.

Jenn, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I do a 3-page brain dump. This tends to get my worries, fears, excitement up and out for the day. Sometimes it’s a running to-do list, it always leads to a devotional after. I notice when I don’t start my day out like this my tension is higher. Then I make coffee, and dive into mom life. Breakfast, packing lunches, getting the kids up and ready for their days before I can start work.Retry

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jennifer and I am a designer. I started my company in 2018 after working corporate for over 10 years and realizing I was a replaceable employee. I was slaving away 50+ hours a week and trying to be a mom and stay on top of health, fitness, cooking, and drinking water. I used to dream of living a life on my own terms.
I am a mom of 4 and I love it so much, but being a business owner of my own design agency is a passion. The fact that I can out-make my corporate salary and work half the time is actually incredible. I get to do school drop-off and pick-up, and as a kid who was shoved in the before and after care at school, I love that I get to do that for my babies.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Funny enough, I was a designer. lol on the computer at that!! I was fortunate enough to have a computer in my room and never a TV. I was always designing on WORD ART? Do you remember Word clip art? lol that was my first design space. Then Roller Coaster Tycoon came out and Sims? I would design entire theme parks and homes on my computer for fun. Then came Myspace. And there I was coding the layout and design of my Myspace and my friends’ MySpaces and the rest is history. Here I am today still designing and coding most of my days away.Retry

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Mom life is a lot, especially when you are the primary parent, especially when you have 4 kids. haha but living my dream and building a business that helps me provide for them is beautiful. I can’t quit, but I do have a vision for a successful exit. I am currently in the process of launching an agency that can run without me 24/7. Whether it’s digital products or a team of designers, I am in the stage now of planning what that will look like. I love what I do but I do dream about creating for just fun and not clients.Retry

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Honestly if we are talking public IRL, then yes. If we are talking social media? Also yes. My business presence at events, on Zoom, or on social media is the real deal. Sometimes I’m serious but most times I like to laugh and make others laugh. I try to bring that same energy to whatever I do.Retry

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was magnetic, that my energy lit the room, that my presence was felt. I aim to make others feel good and I pray that people can see my joy, wonder how I have joy (since textbook-wise my life is chaotic), and then wonder how I have peace. I pray they know that Jesus Christ is how I am able to have peace.Retry
