Hi Therese, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: When was the last time you felt true joy?
True joy for me comes in seeing my children happy and thriving. Joy is seeing all the hard work I put in on building my brand come to life. JOY is seeing each person I connect with understand the mission and connection Yes Girls Create creates in our communities. Joy is building a happy marriage 33 years in.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Therese Myers, and I am the Founder of Yes Girls Create, Inc., a New York–based nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls ages 8–18 through creativity, mentorship, and community. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide girls with the tools, confidence, and experiences they need to dream boldly and lead fearlessly.
What makes Yes Girls Create unique is our commitment to blending creativity with mentorship. Each month, our girls participate in hands-on labs led by accomplished women creatives — from entrepreneurs and artists to innovators and leaders. These experiences not only cultivate their creative spirit but also instill self-esteem, resilience, and lasting friendships.
We are especially excited to kick off our 2025–2026 season this September with the theme: “Oh, the Places She Shall Go When She Dreams.” This year, we’re inviting our girls to expand their imaginations, explore new opportunities, and step into spaces they never thought possible. From STEM to wellness, the arts to leadership, we are committed to ensuring every girl knows that her dreams matter and her future is limitless.
Alongside Yes Girls Create, I also lead Brand New Vue, a platform that focuses on helping women and organizations reimagine their pathways to success through strategy, wellness, and personal growth. At its heart, my work — whether through Brand New Vue or Yes Girls Create — is about building communities where creativity meets purpose, and where dreaming is not just encouraged but celebrated.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that truly shaped how I see the world was when I answered the call to serve and created Yes Girls Create. Saying yes to this mission seemed simple at first, but it has transformed into something far greater — impacting girls, women, and families in ways I could never have imagined. It taught me that one courageous decision can ripple outward, creating spaces where young girls are seen, heard, and empowered to dream without limits. That realization continues to guide how I show up in every room, reminding me that purpose-driven work not only changes lives — it changes entire communities.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
The kindest thing I would say to my younger self is: You absolutely can do and be anything you put your mind to. There are no limits to what you can accomplish. If you believe in your gifts and allow yourself the grace to grow, you will change the world.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to empower every young girl and women that I connect with and showing them their dreams matter. There is no timeline on this mission. It is simply one person at a time.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I think i will always (well sometimes) not investing in more properties for my family. Sometimes fear stops us from doing the simplest things and we look back and make excuses. So perhaps I should not say regret but I do wish i would have done it sooner.
