We recently had the chance to connect with Queen Asharah and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Queen , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
When I wake up I pray and meditate. I also like to have tea in the morning. The variety changes. Lately I have been drinking this lemon balm kiwi tea that is so delicious. I have always been an avid tea drinking so this is one of the highlights of my day that I truly enjoy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve published children’s books that celebrate diversity and self-confidence, performed music that blends R&B and pop, and spoken on topics like anti-bullying, women’s empowerment, and representation in literature. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my entertainment projects, growing my fanbase, and building a global platform that leaves a lasting cultural impact. My mission is simple to show that anything is possible if you’re willing to create it yourself and never give up.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think that people being rude, fake and disrespectful breaks bond. Not having awareness that they are rubbing people the wrong way and having an unwillingness to self reflect and respect others. I think what can restore them is mutual respect and awareness and willingness to correct yourself and a real desire to establish peace.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say that you are on the right path. Leave no stone unturned. You are way smarter than anyone will ever give you credit for. Your validation comes from the most high and not from any man or woman. The validation that you receive from any human being’s, if any is just icing on the cake. Take great care of yourself and pour into yourself as much as possible.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes the public version of me is the real me. I believe in being as authentic as possible. I also feel like being and independent artist and using my resources that are some times limited I have to create in a space of authenticity I don’t have a lot of room to go off and do something that doesn’t speak to my true essence. Everything I do has to be intentional because I don’t want to waste time or resources on something that isn’t really me. I also think when connecting with people they can feel when something is genuine or not. Either way it’s much easier just to stick to what truly resonates with me.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am definitely doing what I was born to do. It’s definitely difficult to just do you because there is a lot of unsolicited opinions and projections from other people.Especially when you are an artist and entrepreneur. I find that people feel that they can project and tell you what you should do and could do when you are in the public eye or creative field. It’s like you irritate something in their soul because you are living your dream and doing what you were born to do and maybe they’re not. That’s not my problem but it makes it even more important that I continue to stay in my lane and do me.
