An Inspired Chat with Shaquasha Llopiz of Brooklyn

Shaquasha Llopiz shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Shaquasha, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes. One recent moment that made me feel proud was when I got contacted by Howard University as a candidate to dj their home coming this year.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shaquasha Llopiz known to most as Dj Qua the female “PRODIGEE”. Also CEO of Ultimate New Era Entertainment (UNE ENT). One of the top female djs from Brooklyn Ny. Well known for my professionalism , my unique style of djing and my fashionable swag. Born and raised in Brooklyn Ny. Law enforcement by day dj by night. I have traveled and toured the states and countries to dj and I have djd for many celebrity artist such as Bobby Shmurda, Mariah Lynn, C Billy, Lil Mama, Young Ma, Snoop & Natalie Nunn. I also personally dj for indie artists Fly Deff, Battle Bear, Nyasia Chanel & Puppa Biggs.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My aunt Dr. Carmen Llopiz-Valle taught me the most about work. She worked so hard most of her life and put herself through medical school to become a very successful OB/GYN. Growing up I wanted to be on just because she was one and I seen how much she loved it and how much her patients and everyone around her admired her. She always told me to do my best at whatever it is I choose to do and remain consistent.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes there was a time almost gave up. I found out in 2023 that I had bad carpal tunnel in my right (dominant hand). I was getting cortisone shots and seeing a hand specialist for 5/6 months. After some time my doctor told me that it had gotten so bad that I would have to get surgery. I felt like my dj career would now be over because I had to get surgery and take a 4-5 month break from djing. But instead I got the surgery took time to heal and now I’m back strong as ever.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that family matters the most to me. I have the luxury of having both parents my life who are 35 years happily married. They taught me the value of family and that family is always over anything and everything.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes I can. There are many times where I have showed up to events and not a lot of people were there or the event did not turn out as planned but I still djd as if it was a packed house and made dun of the event because that is jut who I am.
