Nicole Sachiko shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Nicole, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I help people discover their identity, joy, and confidence by guiding them to understand themselves and use their possessions intentionally. Through decluttering, home organization, and self-reflection, I empower clients to follow their dreams and create the life they want. This year, I’m applying to a master’s program in clinical psychology to combine licensed therapy with organizing services, helping clients transform both their space and their mindset for lasting fulfillment.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I grew up in a hoarder home in San Francisco, California, where walking through “alleyways” of clutter and constantly decluttering the table before meals was part of daily life. From a young age, I experienced firsthand how physical clutter can create mental stress and make even simple tasks feel overwhelming. This personal experience fuels my passion for helping others transform their homes and their lives. Today, I live a minimalist lifestyle and truly believe that by having less, you can live more—creating space for joy, clarity, and intentional living. My business – Tidy Lifestyle, combines professional organizing, decluttering guidance, and personal empowerment to help clients reclaim their homes, streamline their daily routines, and live more fully.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that deeply shaped how I see the world was growing up living two very different lives. At home in the San Francisco Bay Area, I experienced life in a hoarder household—surrounded by clutter, often in the dark, and feeling alone with few friends. At the same time, I was fortunate to have family in places like Japan and Hawaii, traveling and experiencing the world from a young age. From this contrast, I learned early that life is unique for every person—shaped by values, cultures, beliefs, and habits. I carry this perspective into my work with clients, creating customized organizing and decluttering solutions that reflect their individuality rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all system. Every home and space becomes a personal reflection of what makes them truly special.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me lessons that success never could: humility, gratitude, and the ability to transform pain into power. Experiencing struggle has shown me how to learn, grow, and evolve into the best version of myself. Life’s biggest challenges shape who we are and deepen our appreciation for the good times, because we truly understand what it feels like to be at rock bottom. I bring this perspective to my work, helping clients navigate change, overcome obstacles, and create homes and lives that support their personal growth, clarity, and fulfillment.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say what really matters to me is challenging myself, exploring the world through travel, and following my dreams with intention. They’d also say that being a good human—living with kindness, integrity, and authenticity—is at the core of everything I do. I bring this mindset into all areas of my life and work, inspiring others to pursue their goals, embrace growth, and create a life that reflects their true values.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I will regret nothing. My mission in life is to live fully and intentionally, embracing every opportunity with no regrets. Each year, I make it a point to check off something on my bucket list—this year, I learned how to sail safely with passengers aboard. I believe in cultivating a mindset that prioritizes following your dreams, taking action, and making time for what truly matters. Life is too short for regret—why wait to pursue the experiences and goals that bring us joy and fulfillment?
