We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sarah Lynn Dawson. Check out our conversation below.
Sarah Lynn, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
In my industry there is no such thing as normal. I would like to have a routine but it generally involves, pitching my films, working on learning new things (tech based), jobs such as acting, modeling or voice, creating new projects, writing, putting out fires and so on. As a creative entrepreneur I work as many hours as I can and I enjoy it (mostly)
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a storyteller mostly. I have a podcast called Stepping into Shakespeare which looks at Shakespeares plays. The latest season has some amazing guests, talking about how they turned some of his best plays into films. It’s been amazing for me as an actress because it has taught me so much. I also am producing some sci-fi films and working on a few other things that I can’t talk about yet.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I was lucky to have supportive material grandparents and parents. I know a lot of people don’t have this, but for me their love, morals, standards, support and teachings on life have been invaluable and something that I am so grateful for.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, I mean sometimes everything gets too much, and you just go like ‘give me a break’ sometimes you get one and sometimes you don’t but you keep going.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My work probably!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
When it’s challenging. I think growth can be like this and it’s important, so some periods of it are OK. Then you need that magical flow state. I read something about this recently, I can’t remember who said it. They said you need to stay right on that edge and that’s probably true.
