An Inspired Chat with Chhavi Verg Kooner

Chhavi Verg Kooner shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Chhavi, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I am being called to take action. For most of my life, I felt like I was waiting; waiting for the brand deal, the audition, the photoshoot. As a content creator, actor, and model, so much of my career seemed dependent on someone else’s approval or timing. That constant waiting made me feel powerless, like I wasn’t in control of my own path.

Eventually, I got tired of that. I decided to take my power back by creating my own opportunities. Early in 2025, launched GLO Trips—empowerment retreats for women. What’s beautiful is that while I set out to teach and guide, I’ve learned just as much through leading them.

Taking action can be scary, but what I’ve realized is that more often than not, we are the ones standing in our own way. In this season of life, I’m being called to act—in spite of the doubt, the uncertainty, and the imperfection. And what I’ve learned is that you gain more clarity and confidence through doing, not waiting for things to be perfect.

These retreats are all about helping women stop waiting and start writing their own stories. In many ways, they’ve allowed me to do the same—step fully into ownership of my life instead of sitting on the sidelines.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Chhavi Verg, and I wear many hats; I’m a model, speaker, content creator, and beauty queen. I was Miss New Jersey USA 2017, first runner-up at Miss USA 2017, and second runner-up at Miss Universe India 2024. Competing on some of the biggest stages in the world taught me invaluable lessons about confidence, resilience, and owning your story—lessons I now bring into my brand and my work with women.

I’m the founder of GLO Trips, a luxury empowerment retreat brand for women. These retreats are not just about beautiful destinations, but about helping women step into their power, release limiting beliefs, and design the lives they truly want. They’re a blend of luxury travel, transformational workshops, and unforgettable experiences that allow women to reconnect with themselves and return home energized, confident, and clear.

What makes GLO Trips special is that it’s not just a retreat—it’s a movement. It’s about showing women that you don’t need to wait for permission to live the life you dream of. You hold the pen to your story, and I’ve made it my mission to create spaces where women can embrace that truth.

My passion for this work runs deep: my grandmothers and great-grandmothers were child brides, and seeing how women have historically been silenced or held back has fueled my drive to change the narrative. I believe that even today, the barriers women face are not only societal but also the invisible constraints we place on ourselves. GLO Trips was born to help women break free from both.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding GLO Trips globally and speaking on stages about confidence, wellness, and women’s empowerment.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother has always seen something in me that I couldn’t yet see in myself. From the very beginning, she reminded me of my worth, encouraged me to think bigger, and stood by me. Whenever I felt lost or doubted myself, she was the voice reminding me of my strength.

Her unwavering belief became the foundation of my confidence. And what I’ve realized is that sometimes it only takes one person who truly sees you to change the way you see yourself. That lesson is at the heart of everything I do today. Through my retreats, I aim to create that same mirror for other women—a space where they are reminded of their value, supported in stepping into their power, and encouraged to live life on their own terms.

Because when a woman finally sees herself clearly, she becomes unstoppable.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Failure teaches you far more than success ever could. In the world of modeling, acting, and pageantry, I’ve heard the word “no” more times than I can count. At first, it felt crushing and took a toll on my self-confidence. But over time, those rejections became my greatest teachers. They taught me not to take “no” personally, and to trust that when one door closes, it’s often because a better one is waiting to open.

Rejection taught me resilience. It forced me to develop grit, patience, and faith in timing. It reminded me that worth is not determined by someone else’s opinion, and that persistence is often what separates those who succeed from those who stop trying.

This lesson has shown up in every area of my life—career, relationships, even personal growth. It’s taught me to believe in the power of the unseen, to have faith that what is truly meant for you will never pass you by. My role is to show up, work hard, strive to be excellent in my field, and then let go of the rest. And perhaps the greatest gift in all of it is learning that rejection is never the end of the story; it’s simply a redirection toward where you’re truly meant to be.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the industry implies is that you have to compromise your values—or even who you are—to succeed. In modeling, pageantry, and entertainment, there’s often unspoken pressure to fit into a mold, to say “yes” when your gut says “no,” or to accept opportunities that don’t align with you. Especially when you’re starting out, you’re made to feel “replaceable”;as if if you don’t do something, someone else will.

I understand why it’s tempting, but real success—the kind that feels fulfilling—comes from the opposite: staying rooted in who you are. Growth and personal development are essential, but there’s a clear line between constructive feedback and compromising your core. Your values, your identity, and your uniqueness should never be up for negotiation.

Integrity may not deliver the fastest wins, but it delivers the right ones. And those are the ones that last.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I finally feel like I’m in a place where I’m doing what I was truly born to do. I’m deeply grateful that my parents nurtured the idea of creating my own path in life. While that hasn’t always been easy, it’s led me to places and experiences I could never have imagined. Along the way, I’ve been able to live dreams I once only envisioned, discover what was and wasn’t aligned for me, and grow because of it.

Today, I’m grateful to be in a season where my work feels like a calling; empowering women to write their own stories while traveling the world, building community, and creating meaningful connections. It has been not only fulfilling but also a constant reminder that you are allowed to evolve as a person, and there is beauty in walking the road less traveled. When you do so, the journey itself becomes the reward.
