Kelly Bowden shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Weekdays are the busiest. I wake up around 3:30 am, prepare breakfast for our guests then write what I call my bnb “lesson plans” for my amazing bed and breakfast helpers and head to work at school (my day job). they serve all my guests and clean rooms etc
Weekends I get to sleep in till 5 am or so prep breakfast, serve breakfasts and greet guests and as needed change rooms clean up the kitchen and always laundry to be done along with resetting the dining table and upstairs snack and drink stations.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are a small woman owned bed and breakfast. We are situated in the beautfui historic Fairmount neighborhood. Since I also work full time in education and have number of years of working in varied areas of the service industry I have truly enjoyed working with people.
We want everyone to feel at home and enjoy all that Fort Worth has to offer while they are visiting.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My mom is truly my guiding force, my biggest cheerleader, and guide.
She is always going and doing. She takes the time to care for others and make them feel welcome.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
We all experienced it. 2020-2021 was a wake up call for the industry. We weren’t sure what to expect. Thankful it all worked out over time.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say that I love to meet people and entertain them. That I love to share all the things I enjoy here in Fort Worth!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Our bed and breakfast helpers and I. I truly feel that not only the house, the location etc although important it is the people who care for guests during their stay that make the experience what they keep coming back for. It’s like a second home
