C.L., it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently I got to share one of my songs with another artist that I really admire, it was a wonderful opportunity. I am very proud of that!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is C.L. and I am an independent musician/artist from San Antonio, Texas. I write acoustic music that speaks to my soul and create art for everyone to connect to. I am my own writer, producer, and PR representative, and I balance all of this while having a full time job as a special education teacher.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed that other people had to see it in me for me to succeed. I thought that if no one else believed I could, that achievement wasn’t possible. I now know this isn’t true. If I set my mind to something, it’s in my reach.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Some of my favorite songs that I have written have come from pain. In a way exposing that pain has lead to success for me, which in my opinion is very powerful.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Of course. There are some aspects of myself and my life that I don’t share, but everything I do share, is me. It’s more polished and curated, of course, but its still true to who I am and what I stand for.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they still recognize the love I put into my work.
