An Inspired Chat with Kayla Petrasek of Vancouver, BC

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kayla Petrasek. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I absolutely love learning new skills. When I find something intriguing that I want to master, I go all in—it’s my happy place. I thrive on feeling driven, focused, and fully immersed in the process of learning and developing myself.

Recently, for example, I’ve been diving deep into AI-generated content creation, and it’s been both exciting and creatively fulfilling. Projects like that allow me to shake things up, challenge myself, and explore new possibilities. That blend of curiosity and creativity has always been what drives me in life, and it’s often where I find myself again.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kayla Petrasek, and first and foremost, I’m a proud mom to my 15-year-old son. Becoming a mother at 20 was the turning point that sparked my drive to elevate every aspect of my life. I became determined not only to create a better future for myself, but to build the kind of life my son deserved to step into.

I started my career in corporate sales with Hilton Hotels at just 21, becoming the first person ever hired directly from an internship into the highly competitive sales department. This role ignited my love for sales—fast-paced, challenging, and deeply rooted in human connection. From there, I pursued a degree in Health Sciences, blending my passion for science and the human body with my growing expertise in business.

That path led me into pharmaceutical sales for top global companies, before relocating from Toronto to Vancouver at the tail end of COVID-19. In Vancouver, I transitioned into aesthetic sales—representing leading medical aesthetic equipment brands and medical-grade skincare companies such as L’Oréal and Galderma, where I earned multiple awards for performance.

Eventually, I took the leap to start Allora Agency, a boutique marketing firm specializing in the aesthetics industry. This venture naturally evolved into business coaching and consulting for startups and established corporations, combining my sales expertise, marketing strategies, and operational leadership to help businesses scale. Today, I host a podcast, have published two books, and am in the final stretch of completing my MBA.

My mission goes beyond financial success—I aim to help entrepreneurs create fulfilling lives and thriving businesses they’re proud of. Long-term, I aspire to open a charity that supports women in leaving domestic violence situations. I believe in building a legacy that is meaningful, impactful, and worth passing on to the next generation.

This is only the beginning.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Honestly, I was a bit of a lost soul. I always had this deep knowing that I was meant to do great things, and I’ve been ambitious for as long as I can remember. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a doctor—not just because I wanted to help people, but because, to me, it was the most challenging and respected path I could imagine.

Life wasn’t always easy, but I learned early on how to push through and create something out of nothing. That resourcefulness became one of my greatest strengths and has been a driving force behind the success I’ve built as an adult.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Singing. I’ve always been a creative and artistic person—whether it was singing, writing, or creating—it’s been my outlet since day one. I’ve gone through some dark times in my life, and while I used to do everything I could to hide it, I’m now very open about my journey.

Those experiences, as hard as they were, shaped the person I am today and ultimately made me stronger. Life has chapters—some heavy, some light—but all of them are beautiful in their own way. I choose to embrace every part of it, because we’re always learning, growing, and experiencing.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies we’re told—not just in my industry, but in life—is that there’s a “right” way to do things. From a young age, we’re conditioned to follow a predetermined path: grow up, get an education, get married, climb the corporate ladder, do as you’re told, be “proper.”

But the truth is, there is no rulebook. The most successful and fulfilled people I’ve met are the ones who’ve stepped off that path entirely—who’ve ignored the “shoulds” and created their own version of success.

It’s okay to switch industries. It’s okay to study something completely different than what you first pursued. It’s okay to make choices your family, friends, or partner might not understand or approve of. It’s okay to live your life exactly how you want—without fear of judgment—because that’s where true fulfillment lives.

When we stop living for others and start living for ourselves, we unlock a deeper alignment with what actually lights us up. That’s when we find the confidence, clarity, and courage to live without limits.

For me, the day I stopped caring what anyone thought was the day I became completely free—and my entire life elevated.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Absolutely—there have been many times this has happened. I’m a go-getter and a risk-taker, so when something lights me up from within, I go after it with everything I have. I truly believe there’s nothing in life I can’t make happen. It might take time, effort, and more than one try—but if I want it, I’ll find a way.

What I’ve learned, though, is that getting what you want doesn’t always bring the satisfaction you expect. Sometimes, the real reward isn’t the achievement itself—it’s who you become in the process. Over time, I’ve built my life around three foundational pillars:
1. Break through fear
2. Take consistent, intentional action
3. Live with unshakable confidence—because confidence is the key to everything.
