Yasmine Roberts & KB & CA Jones & Etai Schnittman & Digs on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Yasmine Roberts & KB & CA Jones & Etai Schnittman & Digs. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Yasmine & KB & CA & Etai & Digs, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
I’m not sure surprising is the right word, but I think we’re constantly reminded that our fans and listeners respond to, relate to, and love, the songs that we put our hearts and souls into. The songs that we try to make because we think we should, or try to make sound a certain way, don’t get the notoriety because, at the end of the day, they’re not genuine, they’re not REAL.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
The infectious sounds of The Vig Arcadia was born in Detroit, 2020. We are an international, touring group that takes the best parts of classic rock, pop, and modern alternative and blends them together into a deliciously groovy concoction. Our edgy, funky sound is irresistibly danceable, and the soulful sweetness will grab you by the heartstrings.

We released our first studio album, MORPH, in November of last year that explores personal experiences about life and love. It soars and evolves through a memorable collection of tracks, which range from powerhouse interludes to fiery ballads to groovy jams.

Currently, we’re working on a handful of more angsty singles that we plan to bring to you later this year!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I don’t think there was any one person that saw us, before we could see ourselves as ‘The Vig’. We can remember many moments and people, along the way, that gave us hope and a glimpse into the mirror of what we now see. To name a few:
When Jackamo, a local and phenomenal band, quickly agreed to open for us at a very small venue for one of our first shows and complimented our first songs
When we heard from a handful of music professionals after playing in a competition-style music festival in Grand Haven our first year
Booking Royal Oak’s Taco Fest and hearing Jamie Wilkin’s praises afterwards
Packing out Ziggy’s last year and hearing those few encouraging words from our new fans
Releasing our single, ‘Today’, and hearing SO many positive reactions to it
Being invited to open for Flexadecibel in Muskegon and playing for our biggest crowd yet
Selling out a small venue in Milwaukee which later became our top listening city of the year
and our biggest to date, being asked to open for Lamont Landers at The Magic Bag earlier this year

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think we’ve really considered it after having to replace many members, struggling to find a good schedule for all, trying to book bigger venues, toying with our style and sound.
But if we didn’t face all of those things, we wouldn’t be evolving. All great artists/bands experience these same challenges. It’s part of the beautiful journey, and we’re here to stay.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I think we all rely very heavily on each other for ideas. There’s not one song that is completely driven by just one of us. There are times when CA or Digs gives a catchy vocal bridge or chorus, Etai famously gives unique guitar chords to add in for a fuller sound, KB gives a drum solo idea, and so on.

We also place a lot of trust in our producers and engineers.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’m not sure we’d stop doing anything specifically, but I know we would spend a whole lot more time writing and creating!!
