An Inspired Chat with Sharde Hawkins of Houston

We recently had the chance to connect with Sharde Hawkins and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Sharde, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I started having non negotiables when starting my days. So now, I start my days laying in bed for about 15/20 minutes just breathing and gathering. No scrolling, no thinking, maybe playing some music if I’m in the mood to hear it. Another non negotiable is to eat breakfast before I begin working. Then I’ll read a few chapters of my book or I’ll journal. All of these things help me get time with myself first before I begin any work.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sharde, I am the CEO of Knottii Shop, a crochet and knit fashion brand. Knottii specializes in handmade design, so every single item produced was handmade by me. I also teach crochet classes, where we meet to learn different stitches or make different items. What makes Knottii special is that we don’t just sell clothing, we create statement pieces that tell stories. Each piece is made with care, creativity, and time and is designed to make people feel confident & stylish. Also, we take our time showing up for the community by hosting these creative workshops and teaching new skills.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship with my mom. It’s funny and interesting because seeing someone who’s so much like me – same traits, same personality, and even the same looks – but who made different choices and followed a different path. It’s literally like looking at a mirror with a different timeline, or a reminder of what could happen if I don’t follow my purpose. Me & my mom are the same but also entirely different & seeing her journey has helped me recognize my own strengths and patterns. It shaped me to realize I have the power to take those same qualities and channel them in a way that works for me.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
That you can literally put your all, whole heart and effort, into something and still not get the outcome you hoped for. Sometimes things just don’t workout the way you planned, and you have to be okay with that. It took like 20 temper tantrums for me to finally grasp that and I’m still learning. Life is about about growth and lessons and sometimes effort and results aren’t always connected.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My creativity and freedom, I need space in every sense. Space as in space to be loud, space to be creative, space to just be who I am without restraint. The moment I feel trapped, I’ll leave.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Eating takis lol, I’m working on it people, just bear with me.
