Story & Lesson Highlights with Nubs Fragrances of Kansas City

We recently had the chance to connect with Nubs Fragrances and have shared our conversation below.

Nubs, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What battle are you avoiding?
I have two that I’m avoiding:

The battle to not completely obliterate the other fragrance influencers with my sheer, intoxicating charm and The war between my nose and my bank account — and trust me, my bank account is losing.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Nubs Fragrances is a fragrance influencer with a nose for the extraordinary and a shelf that could double as a small perfume boutique. With over two years of experience in the scent game, he’s collaborated with fragrance brands from every corner of the globe, sniffing, spraying, and occasionally drowning in eau de parfum. His growing audience on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok follows him for honest takes, witty reviews, and the occasional olfactory mic drop. Nub’s mission? To help the world smell so good that strangers stop you in the street just to say ‘What is that?’ — without you having to check if your fly is down first.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I was a kid, I noticed something: the most successful people didn’t just walk into a room — they arrived. They dressed sharp, carried themselves with confidence, and, most importantly, they smelled amazing. My little brain put two and two together and decided, ‘If I can’t own a yacht yet, at least I can smell like I do.’ From that day on, I’ve been on a lifelong mission to make sure my scent game is always as polished as my shoes.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
For a long time, I had this weird fear that my hands — and honestly, the rest of me — just weren’t ‘good enough.’ I’d overthink everything, from how I looked holding a bottle to whether people would even care what I had to say. Now? I’ve realized the magic is in just being myself… hands, flaws, and all. Turns out confidence smells a lot better than self-doubt.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is absolutely the real me — I’m just a little more polished, a little more camera-ready, and maybe wearing slightly less cat hair. What you see online is my genuine personality, just with better lighting and edited awkward pauses. Oh yeah… ChatGPT wrote this message.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
What I’ll regret most is not starting sooner. I spent too much time afraid I wasn’t good enough, when really, I was just delaying unleashing my awesomeness on the world. Imagine how far I’d be if I’d started earlier… probably smelling even better than I do now, which is saying something.
