Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Melissa Goad of Concord, California

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Melissa Goad. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Melissa, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Filmmaking, editing, script reading. I can spend hours doing these things and it feels like only minutes have passed by.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Melissa Goad, and I am a Director, Producer, and Actor. I began acting at a young age and, in my early twenties, fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood, a prestigious college specializing in acting.

Over the years, I’ve starred in several independent films, produced my own projects, and in 2020 expanded my creative journey into directing. Today, I direct and produce faith-based films with stories and themes that resonate with audiences far beyond the faith-based genre.

Currently, my team and I are developing the feature film December to Remember. Our short film of the same name recently completed its festival circuit in July, where it received positive recognition. We are now seeking funding to bring the feature version to life.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My mother was one of the greatest influences in my life. From the time I was five years old, she encouraged me to pursue my dream of acting, supporting me in every way she could. She never stopped reminding me that I could be anything I wanted to be and to never give up, no matter the challenges. Even in her final moments, she made me promise that I would continue chasing my dreams. Her unwavering belief in me shaped not only my career but the person I am today—and for that, I am endlessly grateful.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep going. Keep creating. Even when no one is hiring—or hiring you—remember that your power lies in your ability to make your own work. Stay sharp, stay focused, and trust that while you can’t control every opportunity, you can control your creativity. That’s where your strength is, and that’s what will carry you forward.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Jesus and Family. Also, just being kind.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Putting Jesus first. Jesus has to always come first. He is the truth, the way and the life (John 14:6).
