We recently had the chance to connect with Devonte Cozart and have shared our conversation below.
Devonte, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
lack of exposure and marketing. Being consistent in my craft.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Devonte Cozart, 31 Years old. Reside in New York. I have a clothing company- Rated Rare LLC. My passion has always been in fashion. From curating outfits, mixing and matching. The need to stand out and be unique has always been my end goal. I came up With Rated Rare as a company name. I felt it resonated with who I am. Always being true to myself, bold and unique. I’ve always been told my energy is “contagious”. My clothing line has allowed me to express myself on a deeper level. I wanted to make sure my brand was unisex with no age limit. This helps broaden the audience. When wearing “Rated Rare” the purpose is for you to feel unique and stand out. Clothes has always been a safe place for me- mentally, physically and emotionally. I will be taking place in Fashion week 9/13, for the second time. Another chance to market my brand on a higher level. This has also motivated me to show grit- don’t quit.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Brave, Motivated and a true born Leader. Leading with integrity has always been who I am at my core. Moving the best to my own drum and most importantly being myself.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be kind and gentle. Allow yourself grace, understanding everyone has a different journey. What’s meant for you will happen- in time. It’s not about who starts the race but who finishes it.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My Mom has always been my biggest motive and influencer. Her strength and resilience inspires me to always rise to the occasion. For that i’m forever grateful.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Display of creative that I’ve expressed. My brand is streetwear and couture. It has a great balance to have high and low accessories to match perfectly. Also, my brand is relatable and convenient in pricing.
