Alyee Sakin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Alyee, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am eternally grateful, that throughout my life, I have continually built a strong relationship with God. This is not a religious act for me, yet a core deep connection with the all-knowing Creator of unconditional love and peace. I have felt “magic” throughout my life, as well as overcoming many obstacles and pain, to be here with God today. I used to think it was “my angels” watching out for me, and now I recognize this support has been, and is always, Mother/Father God.
Building a foundation with him takes time, and for me, continues to grow and strengthen in every Now moment. It requires a depth of presence, awareness of myself, and a complete surrender that I voice with the mantra: “Let Go, Let God.”
This unbridled faith that I am being led, to the highest version of myself, is sometimes difficult to remember, having recently been through a major health issue; and in the past, being raised by controlling, abusive parents that caused me to have many limiting beliefs, as we all form in childhood. Wanting to be perfect so I would get love and prove that I matter, I would push myself: to “do more” for others and less for myself, I would try to control outcomes and situations, and I would allow the weight of the world to fall on my shoulders, which was a very heavy burden to bear.
Building a strong foundation with God, allowing him to lead and show me the way, and committing to this relationship as #1 importance in my life, has given me a sacred homecoming to myself, again and again, that I used to think was impossible to experience. God’s love and clarity instantly shifts my Reality, my consciousness, and my perceptions into a Loving kindness way of being. He reminds me that I am never alone, for I am a child of God. For this, I am, and have always been, blessed.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I believe what often breaks the bond between people is a lack of faith — not just in one another, but in something greater than ourselves. When we lose that humble awareness that we’re here to be vessels of love and peace, we disconnect. Whether you call it God, Source, the Divine, or a Higher Power, turning toward that presence and praying — in whatever way speaks to you — can bring us back to that deeper connection.
Especially at this time in our collective evolution, bonds often break because of a lack of understanding — starting with ourselves. We don’t always know why we do the things we do. Understanding our human design — from childhood conditioning, past experiences, traumas, and even our actual Human Design charts — can provide the depth we’ve never reached within ourselves. And if we haven’t gone there with ourselves, how can we truly go there with others?
Unhealthy communication, emotional dependency, attachment styles formed in early childhood — these patterns often shape how we relate. And it makes perfect sense: these behaviors once kept us safe. They were survival mechanisms.
To restore or repair relationships, I believe we must take radical responsibility for ourselves. We must understand why we react the way we do — not to judge, but to heal at the root. That self-awareness allows us to show up more authentically in relationship, to open up vulnerably, to truly listen, to forgive, and to love more deeply.
There’s so much ego and pain in the world — and hurt people hurt people. But I believe love is the only way. As I often say, *‘Love isn’t the answer. It’s the question, the path, and the only way home.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and began using it as power when I realized how much it could support others to see it, to hear it spoken aloud and know they’re not alone. I realized my pain is my power, because it has made me who I am. The suffering I experienced as a child- feeling unlovable, unseen, unmet for who I truly was – led me to condition myself into someone I wasn’t. I have compassion for that little girl at that time, because I did it to feel safe, as we all do. And that version, that masked, inauthentic me, doesn’t serve the world.
When I saw that sharing my story and my life experiences helped others feel less alone, something shifted. I realized I had lived through all this not just for myself, yet so I could speak from it, into it, and support others in finding their way through it. The grief, the giving too much, the losing myself, and the journey of reclaiming my power – all of it has allowed my inner little girl to be seen and held. And now it’s her time to thrive!
Marianne Williamson’s brilliant quote- “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure… Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you…”- hit home so deeply that I have it hanging in my art gallery. It reminds me every day that pain can be turned into purpose.
When I witnessed my own healing and transformation spark hope and healing in others, I made a life decision to go as deep as necessary, always in all ways. Now I am of service and living my purpose, from a place of truth, love, and embodied consciousness of the Light.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to creating consciousness and transformation in the world, no matter how long it takes. I believe in a world where everyone lives from their authentic truth- knowing they are worthy, seen, heard, and deeply loved. I’m equally committed to this journey within myself: to continue healing, understanding what life is here to teach me, and evolving toward more peace, joy, laughter, and light.
My life’s devotion is to guide people inward- to meet themselves fully, to find God (Source, Love, the Divine), and to remember that they matter. That they are not broken. That they don’t need to fix or shame the parts of themselves that still hurt- only to stop building their lives around beliefs that aren’t truly theirs. We are here to embrace all of ourselves- human and Spirit- and to remember that living a deeply aligned, soul-led life is possible for everyone. As Rumi says, *“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
Whether it’s through The Portal Costa Rica, coaching, intuitive channeling, speaking, treating all beings with kindness, supporting those in need, or through creative expressions like interior design and fashion styling- it’s all an extension of the same mission. I’m committed to showing up in service, in whatever way I’m called, for as long as it takes.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
laughing all the time, again and again and again
