An Inspired Chat with Gabriela Esquivel

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gabriela Esquivel. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Gabriela, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
There are moments when I completely lose track of time and rediscover myself. Many of these are linked to the arts—whether I’m immersed in creating a new painting or practicing songs on the piano, In these moments I feel deeply connected to my soul and experience pure joy.

I also find myself in a timeless flow while riding my bike around town. I love watching people savor food and enjoy quality moments with their loved ones. Cycling through nature, especially near parks or neighborhoods lined with towering old trees, fills me with peace.

Being at the beach, feeling the ocean breeze and water, grounds me and brings a sense of balance to my life.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Costa Rican-American artist who expresses creativity through both sound and color. As a singer and painter, I am passionate about blending these art forms, bringing music and visual art together in dynamic stage performances.

I am currently developing a project focused on Culture and Community, where I blend my visual artistry and music in a creative experience. I aim to take these project to various locations, nationally and internationally.

The first one will be performed in September 2025 at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Joining me will be a talented band of musicians and dance group. Together we aim to create a vibrant fusion of sound and color that celebrates collective creativity and connection.

We are bringing the vibrant spirit of Hispano-American heritage to the senior community of Miami Beach. We believe that engaging with the vibrant traditions, music, and art of both Latin America and North America will help seniors reconnect with their heritage, and connect with the United State’s culture to foster a sense of pride, belonging, and unity.

With my project Sounds & Colors with Gabriela Esquivel, I am interested in connecting with businesses and other brands through art and music. I sing and paint live while also promoting their venues on my social media platforms, One of the venues that I have collaborated with is CubaOcho Museum and Art Center in Miami.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
The bond between people can be broken for many reasons—betrayal, emotional manipulation, neglect, selfishness, and more. These toxic dynamics erode trust, and in some cases, they shatter relationships beyond repair.

For healing to take place, all parties must show intentional will and commitment. People need to be willing to acknowledge their faults and take steps toward mutual understanding.

Some will have to admit their mistakes with humility; others may need to extend honest forgiveness. When a relationship still holds the capacity to be restored, it’s essential that everyone involved commits to setting healthy, respectful boundaries.

True reconciliation takes time and heart. It requires a spirit that’s ready to forgive and ready to be heard.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You’ve been brave and did the best you could with the knowledge you had at the time.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe in the God of Light—not because I can prove it, but because something deeper in me is convinced.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m doing what I was born to do—even though it’s the hardest path to follow.
For me, that means being an artist with complete freedom.
