Julianne Gordon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Julianne , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are sacred — filled with deep breathing, praise and worship, and movement. Starting the day on a high note sets the tone for everything that follows
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Julianne Gordon — a proud mother, entrepreneur, and licensed tattoo artist originally from the vibrant island of Jamaica. I’ve spent the last 16 years living in Brooklyn, New York, a place that has not only become home but also a source of constant inspiration for me. From its effortless street style to the rich blend of cultures, Brooklyn reflects the same energy and diversity I grew up with in the Caribbean.
My passion lies in enhancing natural beauty through the art of brows. I specialize in ombré brows, brow waxing, tinting, and lamination. Each service I offer is more than just a technique — it’s a transformation. I truly love what I do, especially witnessing the joy and confidence that radiates from my clients during the big reveal.
I believe beauty is personal, and I strive to make every client feel seen, heard, and absolutely beautiful. From Jamaica to Brooklyn, my journey has been rooted in culture, creativity, and connection. Every brow I touch tells a story — and I’m honored to be part of it.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the one I have with my mother. Watching her navigate life with strength, grace, and resilience showed me what it means to be a woman with purpose. She raised me with values rooted in hard work, faith, and self-respect — and that foundation still carries me today, both as a mother and as a businesswoman. Her belief in me helped shape the way I see myself: as capable, creative, and worthy of success on my own terms.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
One kind thing I would say to my younger self is you can do! Nothing is impossible with dedication persistence and God you will be great
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the beauty industry tells itself is that perfection is the goal — that clients need to look a certain way to be considered “beautiful.” I completely disagree with that mindset. Beauty isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s personal, cultural, and emotional. My goal isn’t to make someone fit into a standard — it’s to help them feel confident in their own features.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand time. Time is not currency it’s simply being present enjoying the moment being still.
