M’ria Swire on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with M’ria Swire and have shared our conversation below.

M’ria, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am Always walking a path. I believe we are All walking a Path. whether we are aware of the path is a different story. Sometimes the path is overrun by debris, and sometimes it forks, twists/ turns or even gets lost in the rain. And hopefully, we can wipe the sweat and tears from our eyes to one day see the path through the trees before it ends.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Visual Artist, working out of my home-based studio in Plant City, Florida. I graduated with a BFA from The University of South Florida in 2013. The birth of my two children questioned my identity. I have spent the last thirteen years embracing, evolving and strengthening my work and practice, through new challenges and opportunities no matter how unconventional they may seem.

For A time, I was heavily involved in Curating Various Locations, Live Painting at Festivals and Events and other art related endeavors around the Tampa Bay area. However, as life continues on, I have stepped back from that role to focus on Self healing and pursuing avenues that better align with my personal bandwidth. Currently I Help Curate the Gallery at The Lab Theater Project, and Help coordinate efforts during TBCAF (Tampa Bay Coffee and Art Festival) . The Majority of my time is dedicated to my two kids, supporting the pursuit of their interests, health and education.

I am being hosted At Disco Dolls Starting August First, The Show is Called Pandemonium: Exploring the Dissolution of Form Through Color. An all New series of works.

Primarily working in acrylic and raw pigment, My work exemplifies heavy, saturated vibrant colors, layered with metallic, translucent and opaque detailing. Abstracted forms whose movements call the viewer to look further, experience more than just a mere glance. I also enjoy experimenting with new mediums and techniques that change both the texture and application of pigment, often resulting in unexpected, yet highly desirable outcomes.

Artist Statement

My Work synthesizes the fluidity of movement and emotive energy, while utilizing the female form as a vehicle to harness the visual language of expression. Through paint application & experimentation, abstract forms manifest via the assimilation or opposition of various mediums, color, and texture.

My Work looks beyond; into a Place where only the mind Can see and explore. Where human intuition pulls patterns from space and infers what it perceives as tangible reality from an otherwise abstract world.

Elements of Design, otherwise trapped in a predetermined fixture, answer to no one, but explore the possibilities of their fullest potential, unhinged by the talons of societal or scholarly diction.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I had to conform to society. 100 % No longer true

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Hurricane Milton , realigned the Cosmos for me. Showed me to be true to myself and showed me where I held the most value. Allowing me to strip my life of all things that were not serving me the way that I needed to be served. Milton was quite and energy shifter and I am grateful for it, amidst all the damage Physically, Mentally and Financially.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
100 %

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would Stop Driving into the city immediately
