Arvetra Domonic Jones’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Arvetra Domonic Jones shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Arvetra Domonic, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
There are people around me that think I am wandering. Some of the same people that have been there with me walking are now thinking that I am wandering. Because surroundings have changed, it is a thought that now I am wandering without direction. There is nothing I can do to help change that perspective, other than to keep walking in hopes that the same people who were with me before, will be with me again. If the same people don’t change their perspective, it is ok also. I am only to continue walking. Walking right past them, in love.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Arvetra Domonic Jones is more than just an artist—he is a storyteller, visionary, and force for empowerment whose work bridges music, mentorship, and mental wellness. Hailing from Aberdeen, North Carolina, Arvetra’s creative journey began in the sacred halls of the church, where he first discovered a deep connection to music through playing drums and other instruments during worship services. That spiritual and cultural foundation would shape the tone of his voice and message for years to come.

By the age of 12, Arvetra was already penning his own lyrics, unknowingly laying the groundwork for a lifelong mission: to inspire, heal, and uplift through sound. His raw talent and intentional storytelling style reflect his experiences as a former athlete, educator, and advocate for youth development. Drawing from personal challenges and victories, his music reflects themes of resilience, transformation, and faith, resonating deeply with listeners navigating their own life journeys.

In 2019, Arvetra founded Writer’s Block Music Academy, a life skills development program designed to teach youth and young adults how to create, protect, and distribute their own musical intellectual property. Through mentorship, hands-on experience, and a focus on mental and emotional wellness, he empowers participants to not only find their artistic voice but also build confidence and purpose.

His performances are both electrifying and thought-provoking—anchored by authenticity, cultural pride, and a commitment to community uplift. Whether on stage, in a classroom, or behind the scenes mentoring emerging creatives, Arvetra continues to use his gifts to build bridges between art and advocacy.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The COVID-19 pandemic was a life-altering event that impacted people on every level—personally, professionally, and emotionally. During that time, many gave of themselves selflessly. New businesses were emerging, some thriving, while others struggled. There was joy, there was grief—lives were lost, and lives were brought into the world. Even now, in 2025, I believe COVID continues to shape how people approach business, family, and personal growth.

I built meaningful relationships during the height of the pandemic. In the midst of fear and uncertainty, people opened up more easily, seeking connection. But as society began to reopen—even behind facemasks—I noticed many returning to old, self-centered habits.

Oddly enough, I’m grateful for that period. COVID offered a raw glimpse into human nature under pressure. It taught me a lot about community, vulnerability, and the importance of empathy. As we move forward, I hope we carry forward those lessons and continue to treat one another with care and respect.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There are moments when the thought of giving up crosses my mind. But almost immediately, scripture and quiet meditation rise up to meet that thought, canceling it out. At times, I feel alone—until I’m reminded once more that the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ walks with me as my closest companion. That presence keeps me grounded and free, no matter what circumstances surround me.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Seeing people happy and helping one another succeed.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That the Writer’s Block Music Academy was created by an artist that saw wealth in himself and others; that I owned all of my publishing and became successful not only as a singer and songwriter, but also as a business professional in the music and entertainment industry.
