Yaissa Montenegro shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Yaissa, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
For me is very important to start my day with gratitude and self development. That sometimes means reading a book or meditation to get the mind clear and ready for the day!!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Yes, of course! My name is Yaissa Montenegro, and I’m a licensed life insurance agent. I specialize in helping individuals and families protect their financial future through personalized life insurance solutions.
What I love most about what I do is being able to educate people—especially those who may have never considered life insurance—on how simple and affordable it can actually be. My goal is to make sure that every client walks away with not just a policy, but a plan they truly understand and feel confident about.
For me, this business is about more than numbers—it’s about impact. I’m passionate about helping people build generational wealth, prepare for the unexpected, and feel secure knowing their loved ones are protected.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
For a long time due to my sickle cells disease I believed I was broken and needed fixing, in 2023 after a failed attempt at a bone marrow transplant to fix me I finally understand I DON’T need fixing my disease makes me stronger and who I am today!
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Back to the previous question, after I wasn’t able to receive the bone marrow transplant I had an awakening within me. I no longer feel sorry for the things I can’t do now I choose to be different, stronger and beating the odds is my new hobby! The pain I literally feel daily has become my new fuel source.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My close friends would probably say that what matters most to me is family, faith, and helping others succeed. They know I’m someone who shows up, whether it’s for a loved one, a friend, or a client. I care deeply about making a difference—especially when it comes to protecting the people we love and building a future we can be proud of.
They’d also say I’m driven. I work hard not just for myself, but to set an example—especially for my kids and my community. To me, success is about service. If I can use what I know to help someone feel more secure, more confident, or more prepared, then I’m doing what I’m meant to do.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people would say that I made them feel seen, supported, and empowered—that I didn’t just sell a policy, but that I showed up with heart. I want my story to be one of someone who truly cared, who led with purpose, and who used her voice and her work to help others protect what matters most.
Whether it’s my family, my clients, or my community, I want them to remember me as someone who believed in them, who never gave up, and who always left things better than she found them.
At the end of the day, I hope the story people tell is that I was a woman who turned purpose into action—and made people feel safer, stronger, and more hopeful because of it.
