Dr. James Wolfe of suburbs on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Dr. James Wolfe and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning James, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Working out at the gym supplies joy and fulfillment.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I am Dr. James Wolfe, a seasoned pastor with 37 years of dedicated service to the Lord, currently the Executive Pastor at The Carpenter’s House of Worship in Avondale, Arizona, where I lead the Young Adult Ministry. I am the author of the published book, *The Making of a Disciple: A Personal Mentor, First Edition*, which reflects my commitment to spiritual growth and discipleship. I am currently publishing my second Edition, “Making of a Disciple, The Disciple Beyond The Four Walls,” and writing a 3rd book, “GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, The Role, Nature, and Significance of The Holy Spirit.”
I have a short film, “Illuminated Purpose,” and have finished writing the script for a whole feature film based on my life.
I earned my Doctorate in Advanced Theology and Christian Counseling, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and hold a Master degree of Marketplace Ministry, Business Plan Development, and Missions Strategies, also with highest honors.
Dr. Wolfe’s academic background is extensive, including a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on Child and Adolescent Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, and Personality Theory, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry. I am a certified behavioral analyst specializing in personality awareness and an accredited chaplain for the community. My life and dedication to family and faith have enriched my role as a counselor at my business, Just HIS Word LLC. Counseling Service. (justhisword.com)
With seven years of university-level teaching experience, I am currently a member of the UAA and a professor of Christian theology education. My commitment to education and spiritual development is reflected in my contributions to academia and the church community.
Beyond my professional achievements, I am a devoted father to four children: three daughters and one son, and a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren. I was married to my late wife for 25 years, who passed away in 2016 and is now with the Lord.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks bonds between people is mistrust. Trust and communication are the biggest bond breakers in relationships, especially in a society where people are so easily offended. What can restore trust is time. Time of proving to be trustworthy. Trust is one of the most challenging things to regain once it has been broken. Showing yourself to be trustworthy in the little things will earn trust back in the big things.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, several times I have considered giving up. Before my late wife died, I was taking care of her, my stepmother, who both had cancer, while attending school, earning my master’s and doctorate all at the same time. The pressure was so heavy at the time that I felt like giving up and running away from it all. The Holy Spirit helped me make it through.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The belief and project I am committed to is spreading the message of truth and how much God loves us. It is an amazing journey to walk in and discover. It is unexplainable and must be experienced firsthand.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am alone, praying and reflecting. I am an analytical thinker and love to solve problems. When I am alone, I can put things into perspective and rationalize my life and any obstacles that arise.
