Rachel Van Kluyve of Mount Juliet, TN on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Rachel Van Kluyve and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I try to walk every morning with a weighted vest, empty dishwasher, start laundry for my family of 6 and shower and get ready for the day. I also try to have a quiet time read the Bible and get my head right before I’m needed by 4 children.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Here is a copy of my bio.

Rachel Van Kluyve—a mom of four, two of whom joined their family through adoption. She’s a passionate advocate for homeschooling, a creative entrepreneur, and a social media influencer with over half a million followers across platforms. Rachel and her husband Richard are also real estate owners and renovators, known for their custom farmhouse and vacation rentals across the U.S.

At her core, Rachel is a writer, designer, and a woman of faith. Her new children’s book, Louie and La’Ree Empty the Sea, is the first in a new “Sister Adventures” series—a whimsical, beautifully illustrated story with deeper messages about imagination, creation care, and the beauty of a culturally blended adoptive family.

She’s also the author of She Made Herself a Homewith Harper Collins and has been featured in The Farmhouse Movement, Hobby Lobby, Cracker Barrel, and many more. Rachel inspires women to create beauty in their homes and purpose in their lives.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother was the bread winner in our home and in the 80s that was really not something that happened often. My dad had a job he loved but it didn’t pay well, and my mother took a high stress tv advertisement job and was top sales for many years. Seeing her work hard made me realize that’s what it took and takes. She was and still is an inspiration.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Praying or being around my parents helped me feel better. I am also a home body so being at home was my safe space.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Faith. Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My following would most likely miss my writing or my ability to share my faith through sharing my family on social media.
