We’re looking forward to introducing you to Adrian Ferguson. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Adrian, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am chasing the better the version of
myself. What I’ve discovered in my pursuit is that ‘stopping’ is necessary. Taking breaks throughout the day. Traveling. Being publicly unavailable and spending quality time with family and friends. For me, stopping does not mean quitting, it means recharging. The only way I’ve been able to advance and get closer to where I want to be, is because I stopped to appreciate the things I currently had, and learn the lessons that certain professional and personal situations were teaching me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are an art gallery and event space. I sell and exhibit the artwork of predominantly local artist, and people rent my space for private events. What makes Art Of Noize (AoN) interesting is that we are a speakeasy. From Upshur Street, NW through the alley, we are a destination and a real gem in the community where people to come to experience Art, Music, & Film.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part where I dim my light to make others feel comfortable.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that success is not forever, and it can be temporary. Suffering also taught me the power of my choices.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
People will treat you based on how you present and carry yourself.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I want people to tell, is how I led with love, and I helped to curate and create space for people to express themselves. The story I want people to tell is how I took an idea, a vision, and built a successful award winning business. I want people to tell the story of how I bet on myself, and won. When they speak my name after I’m gone, I want people to say I was a man who walked to his own beat.
