Olivia Herlihy of New York City on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Olivia Herlihy. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Olivia, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
It does change all the time! But I typically get up with my youngest son around 5:30 AM (milk for him and relaxing on the couch) while I have my coffee and catch on emails from the night before. Then my daughter is up around 6:30 AM. Breakfast with the kids around 7:30 AM. Then playtime and getting ready for the day. My mom (and the most amazing caretaker!) comes at 9 AM to watch the kids for the day.

Then work begins! Work on emails and review orders. Run to the district to review designs and pick up orders. Meet any clients I had booked for the day. Pack and ship any orders that have to go out.

Kids are back around 5 PM, then it is dinner, bath and bedtime. I try to cook a few times a week for my husband and I. And if we don’t have any evening plans, I work again until bedtime with a little Netflix playing in the background, of course!

A busy day with no events and no glamour!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
With Olivia Grace is a luxury jewelry brand designing classic and timeless pieces. We focus on a bespoke bridal business along with a curated fine jewelry collection, which is designed and made in NYC. I strive to challenge the historically male dominated industry by creating classic, wearable every-day products at an accessible price point. All pieces are hand finished and made with conflict-free diamonds, ethically sourced gemstones and recycled gold. As a fresh, young company, our brand is a pioneer for trends and inspiration.

We’re dedicated to creating timeless jewelry that lasts a lifetime. Most of our designs are classic for the sole purpose that I want them to be passed down to your daughter, to your granddaughter. What sets us apart is our ability to modify and customize pretty much anything we make. If something on the website isn’t exactly what you want, you can reach out to me, and we’ll make it perfect for you. We’ve developed a loyal customer base, which is incredibly valuable for a young brand. While we may not have years of data like established brands, we have the freedom to experiment, see what works, and adapt quickly to our customers’ needs. We’re constantly learning and evolving, which makes every day exciting.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My husband, Thomas has been my biggest advocate and supporter for 15 years. But especially through the last 5 years; becoming parents, new careers and starting this business. My biggest champion for starting this new venture and making me believe that I could do anything with work and determination.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be kind to yourself. You will make mistakes, you will fail. That is all part of the learning process; it is all a part of your journey, your growth. You will learn from it so don’t be too hard on yourself.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is real! To be completely fair I do not share a lot of my personal life but what I do share, is 100% real. I could not share an inauthentic version of myself; it is just not who I am.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I am relaxing at home with my husband and children. My every stress and endless to do lists melt way and I just stay in the moment. It is so peaceful however brief and fleeting.
