Story & Lesson Highlights with Mish Fultz of Colorado Springs

Mish Fultz shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Mish, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day seems so chaotic sometimes! Haha. We recently adopted a pitbull mastiff puppy from the shelter; and she is the key to how the day will go. I wake up at 6am to get my daughter ready for school. While she’s getting prepared, I let the puppy out and feed her. Once she’s done getting ready, we head to the bus stop with our pup Ayla! Then I come back to the house; get my oldest ready for school! Then we all walk up to his bus stop, I bring Ayla back home, go to the gym for about 90minutes, then I head to work for the day! Come home, get the kids from their bus stops, prepare dinner, then walk Ayla again after dinner (our dog trainer has said if there’s adhd in dogs she’s definitely got it so we try to do as much as we can for her lol) then bedtime routine starts at 7pm! And by 8:30 the kids and pup are tucked in and mom and dad have about 30 minutes to ourselves until I get tired and go to bed.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Mish! I own The Vibe Beauty Lounge, an all inclusive boutique lounge where we have good vibes and great hair! I’m all about everyone feeling welcome! My staff is down to earth, kind, understanding individuals who really are masters in their craft. My philosophy is that we are all students still. We can all learn something new in our trade because there’s something always new! We are witchy, holistic humans✨ I’ve been really trying to figure out my brand and it’s always come back to dark moody but refreshing atmosphere. You come into the shop and instantly feel better. I’ve been diggin vivid more and more lately. I’ve always enjoyed them but I’ve had more opportunities lately and it’s been so enjoyable.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
This has been a recent revelation if I’m honest. When I opened the shop; it was all so fast and I knew nothing about owning a business. I had to do so much soul searching, still even on that journey. I came to the conclusion that you make the world you want. My depression has been my biggest struggle. I’m diagnosed bipolar and that was only diagnosed two years ago. It’s so easy for me to go straight to the world sucks, people suck, I don’t want to be here anymore. The only person who can change that outlook was me. So after listening to Gary Vaynerchuk on social media; he was so right. YOU decide your outcome. Although it takes practice every single f***ing day; it’s worth it. It’s worth being here. It’s worth hearing all different walks of life’s stories.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of being judged. I hated feeling looked down on as a kid; it still kinda bugs me. I just don’t let it have power over me anymore. So many know a version of me that no longer exists. I was angry, depressed, and just straight up not a good person. Once I did some work the fear of people judging me was like, well they’re going to judge me no matter what I do! So might as well be my most authentic self!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Oh absolutely. I went my whole life masking myself to conform to what society wanted me to be. Now I’m outwardly weird, awkward, and a good time!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people talk about my qualities I brought to the table. The way I’m there for my friends and loved ones. I make it a point to show up to functions to support whoever needs it. I hope they talk about me being kind. I hope I am a good mother in my kids’ eyes. I hope I was a good wife for my husband. I want to be known for being a good person 🖤
