Kim Cameron of Miami Beach on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Kim Cameron and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I am heavily in production for my third animated feature film called Seaper Powers The Rescue. And, for this film, I am actually taking more of the hands on responsibilities. So, some days, I am writing music, some days I am creating sound effects, some days I was producing vocals, some days I am reviewing scenes. But, right now, that is my day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a singer, songwriter and filmmaker. I like to think of my brand as one of telling stories. Whether that is in film, in documentaries, songs or books. I believe in a sense of adventure and always up for trying new things which is why I have always played around with the latest technology tools, or fashion trends or visuals. But that is not to confuse that my love to try things new does not mean I want to cloud the story. Sometimes the most simple stories are the easiest ones to relate to. I want people to feel touched by my story.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My longtime mentor. He is a dear friend who has never given up on any crazy idea I had. From the very beginning he was always right there for me. Always willing to listen, to help to lend a hand. Everyone needs one of those.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Ahhh, yes. Like once a week. The entertainment world is hard, and the number of people lying to you just to take your money, is still pretty strong and thriving.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I think so. I am not sure who else I can be but myself.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Worrying.
