We recently had the chance to connect with Brandi Daniels and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandi, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Wake up early, workout (a hour to 90 minutes of my time, a bit of soul care); walk the dogs (if we’re house sitting); 2 hours of focus time (where I concentrate on my own work, creative time); break to create content and connect with clients; a late lunch with my mom; walk the dogs and cook dinner.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brandi, and I help women over 40 create lives where they can work from anywhere in the world.
My mum Sandra and I are The Boujee Nomads – we’re international house sitters who’ve been traveling the globe for over a year, staying in beautiful homes while saving over $40,000 on accommodations our first year. But we’re not your typical budget backpackers. We believe in luxury travel on realistic budgets.
What makes us unique is that we don’t just teach travel tactics – we help women who feel trapped by their “successful” lives design something completely different. Through our House Sitter Academy and “Welcome Home” podcast, we show women that it’s never too late to choose adventure over staying stuck, and that you can have both freedom and financial security.
We’re proof that following the rules doesn’t always lead to happiness, and sometimes the best thing you can do is pack two suitcases and trust yourself enough to start over.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I saw myself being this global jet setter! I wanted to be an internationally known fashion designer with homes all over the world; travel full time and stay in beautiful hotels (live on room service). I knew even at early age, without knowing it, that I was meant to see the world, not be tied down to one location and be a woman of the world.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Great question! Suffering taught me that there must be more than just THIS. Suffering made me start asking questions, get curious and try new things. I wasn’t comfortable, I was just the opposite and I knew that I wanted more.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes and No – I am a very private person; so what you see in my Instagram Feed, Facebook, Youtube is literally a 10th of what’s really going on. People think my phone is glued to my hand but truth is – I’m practicing being present a lot more than popular these days. This also contributed to my healing, both mentally, spiritually and physically.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
She lived well. She loved whole-heartedly. She was a good person who wanted to raise up everyone around her.
