Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Landon Loewen of Loveland, CO

We recently had the chance to connect with Landon Loewen and have shared our conversation below.

Landon, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I like to garden and this year we did a huge makeover of the garden areas and added chickens to the mix so it’s been a busy year in the garden to say the least. I really enjoy growing peppers and nightshade plants such as tomatoes, potatoes, tomatillos. It’s been the best garden I have ever grown , so that’s rewarding and inspiring.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a manufacturer of Hot Sauces and spicy condiments. Our fiery adventure began in the backyard in 2020 when we were all bored and at home because of Covid. I started cultivating scotch bonnets and created a Jamaican hot sauce that we now call “Kingston Fire Hot Sauce”. What started as a personal culinary indulgence, shared among friends and family, quickly turned into something I could sell. My friends and family would not stop asking to buy it and I couldn’t say no.

Responding to the growing demand, we delved into the regulatory landscape, attending the Acidified Foods Production program at the University of North Carolina in 2021. Armed with the knowledge and determination, we obtained FDA approval, sales tax licenses, a food manufacturing permit, and comprehensive insurance, officially establishing Sauce Daddy Hot Sauce as a legitimate player in the market.

As our journey evolved, so did our flavors. Expanding beyond Kingston Fire, we curated a lineup of Nine distinctive flavors, catering to a spectrum of tastes from mild to wild and inspired by all the spice loving cultures and countries from around the world.

Sauce Daddy Hot Sauce isn’t just about heat; it’s a testimony to the transition from backyard experimentation to a sustainable business built on flavor and hot sauce culture.

We have recently been working on a seasonal Halloween sauce that will be our spiciest sauce yet and we have a few BBQ sauce ideas we are experimenting with.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandparents taught me work ethic . They were business owners and they showed me what working for yourself could look like.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That you must fail a thousand times at something before you truly master it.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try my best to be as authentic as possible and keep it real and humble in public and private life.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop doubting what i could do and really just reach for the stars.
